I know she had hits before 1989 (LS,YBWM, IKYWT) but she became radio force with 1989 and sadly it ended there too for now . We will see next era.

#1 LWYMMD

#11 RFI (would had gone higher if given more time but then E.G. Took over)

#10 EG

her radio power took the singles this far even though the GP hate them

without her Radio power it would have been a Beautiful trauma/Witness situation where the lead barely peaks inside the top 10 and the follow up singles stall before Top20/30

Gurl, what are you talking about? What About Us has hit no1 on 2 formats and peaked at no4 on overall airplay. It is still at no1 on AC with amazing longevity.

Only on ATRL hitting no1 on 2 formats for multiple weeks and no4 on overall airplay is considered a flop. What About Us was and still is 100 times bigger on radio than LWYMMD.

What About Us still has like 50 million impressions while LWYMMD has almost ZERO even though WAU was released a couple of weeks before LWYMMD. :rip:

Obviously I was taking about Pop radio where WAU only spent one week inside the Top 10

Poor Perfect has been blocked from the no1 on AC by P!nk! It has a bigger negative bullet than hers.

She's gonna snatch another week at No1 on the format this coming Sunday!

It would be funny it WAU just keeps it at No2 until another song takes over the top spot. :gaycat1:

Why would anyone scream payola? It naturally grew, peaked and is now naturally and organically decreasing. It has been in the Top5 on POP since like the beginning of December. Don't forget that she has a second song that's getting big updates and it's heading to the Top5 fast.

Also, it's still gaining a lot on HOT AC and it's gonna peak in the Top3 there for sure too.

Don't even go there gurl.

Is there any basis to those saying the GP wasnt here for End Game?

the song is just bad. i don't believe if certain artist name alone gonna force radio play his/her/their song especially if the song is awful and not radio friendly.

people usually refer to Callout Score if they want to know GP's reaction. But, End Game is not there yet.

I totally expected Taylor to go the Ed Sheeran route for her lead and release a folksy classic Taylor song a la Back to December/You Belong With Me etc. I wonder how well her era would've done if she had led it with something like that.

She was already the #2/#3 most played radio artist of the past decade before 1989 was even released.

Looking at the radio charts really makes me realize how dead the music industry is ☠️☠️ like radio is just randomly picking up songs that are top 20 and makes them go top 3. Cuz there is nothing else to choose from ☠️☠️

Something needs to change

Radio seriously needs to change their traditional method of the way they slowly hop onto songs. This is only going to get worse in a social media/streaming era.

The main problem is these songs take months to peak (which in part is due to the way power rotation songs have UNREASONABLE spins weekly that hog up playlists). For example, God's Plan won't peak on radio until 1 or 2 months from now... which by then it won't even be #1 on Hot 100 anymore and will likely be down the charts. They're just so late onto hits now that they're supporting songs the public doesn't care about anymore (see: New Rules).

They need to cut down on power rotation (give songs 50-80 spins, not 100-120 spins) and start following songs IMMEDIATELY. God's Plan should be racing up radio like a song with a multi-format radio deal, not some normal song that is climbing steadily. It went #1 in its first week of release. On the opposite side of the spectrum; Filthy peaked on radio this week despite being dead on arrival. They're also trying to push songs that are dead on arrival for weeks on weeks thinking they will pick up since they're still on such an old-school way of thinking.

More volatile movements for new songs is needed in short. "The Middle" is a good example of what they need to do more. That song got GRAMMYs promo, did immediately well on iTunes/Spotify, and is now having huge ass gains off the bat.
