To be fair, US radio needs a complete overhaul. The payola is out of control and songs are being pushed/held on to way too long. I really don't care if Drake wins the lawsuit, but if it results in radio going back to its natural roots (of the 70s and 80s), then it's all worth it.

ICDIWABH instantly falling the moment it reached top 5 on Sunday and Stargazing now getting payolad to #1, despite being OUT of both Spotify and US AM top 150 :suburban:

Payola has never been worse than in 2024. We will never get another #2 peaking song on the pop radio, cuz immediately the moment anything is close to the top spot, the label will push it.

And then we used to have legendary songs like Alejandro and Umbrella never went #1 on Pop radio.

Lets play a game and guess which songs will be remembered in 20 years from now, Stargazing? or Alejandro and Umbrella.

I miss those times when just going Top10 was enough and already a big success for artists/labels.

Everyone trying to push for a #1 made the charts terrible and stagnant.

Definitely Umbrella will be the most remembered. 2027 will be 20 years since Umbrella has been released, and it hasn't been forgotten.

Alejandro feels a bit forgotten at this point. At least not as memorable as some of LG's other songs at the time, like Bad Romance.

I feel like Stargazing will be forgotten as well. However, there's a chance it could be remembered better than Alejandro because Myles Smith will likely be a one-hit wonder and won't have a catalog of songs overshadowing it.

Bad Dreams hasn't been sent for adds and isn't even in the Top 50 on Pop either. I think The Door was benefitting from payola, which has come to an end. That one had no business being pushed for as long as it did, especially when HOT TO GO was dropped after ~10 weeks.

Going from +300 spins to -700 spins in like 3 days is so embarrassing :rip:

Akon's Beautiful Day - How is this still rising as well? I gave it a listen on Spotify but couldn't even finish the song

Pink Pony Club coming :duca:

I'm pretty sure Beautiful Things would be Top7 on spins with that many songs dropping hard :deadbanana2:

I have only heard Bed Chem a few times and it drives me completely crazy every time it comes on. The high pitched whining in the chorus is so grating. I get what she's going for but when Mariah sang like this she did it in a softer tone that didnt sound like a whiny child. :doc:

it would be  #4 in audience which is still pretty good. also would be #7 in spins as well if it was still charting.

The new recurrency rule is so stupid and unnecessary, also misleading. The top 10 no longer reflects the ACTUAL Top 10, especially considering the stagnation in recent years.

22. Born With a Broken Heart: 2983 (+158) | 6.172 (+0.451)

I was wondering, and it is not surprising it is receiving some iHeartMedia exposure. A shame the song is so... underwhelming.

Damiano David is iHeartMedia's latest "On the Verge" artist with his new solo single, "Born With a Broken Heart." In a first for iHeart, he will be featured across three formats, with all iHeartRadio CHR, Hot AC and Alt stations participating in the promotion.

Radio should jump more on these, surprisingly great callouts, nothing outstanding, just perfect tunes for passive listeners. I mean, in the abscence of songs clicking...

the shameless payola & songs spending an eternity in the top 10 is ruining the charts

i wonder when/if things will ever change

it's so annoying seeing songs reach the top 10 long after their peak and when they do they don't leave until like 6 months later :hoetenks:

and then you have smashes like hot to go that couldn't even go top 10 which affected its peak on the hot 100, it peaked at like #15 (on the hot 100) but it felt much bigger

i used to love watching the pop radio chart, it's sad to see how it became in the last few years (maybe i'm overdramatic :thing:)

meh I still enjoy following the charts on a daily basis. Yes the songs camping in the top 10 could drop faster, but at leas the songs there arent horrible like the ones we had in 2018-2022.

As Taylor has said, "I think I've seen this one before, and I didn't like the ending." Stargazing is going to pass DWAS on pop streams for this week's airplay chart, and then will start getting some ridiculous -300 daily updates (in additional to the typical Christmas drops).
