Hot To Go is going to go down as one of those songs that felt a lot bigger than its chart stats suggest. I think literally every single person I know, regardless of how in tune they normally are to mainstream pop music, has at least heard of the song. If I wasn't a chart watcher, I would have assumed it at least went Top 5, if not #1.

Tay has never had a stable hit drop like that, she either sustains an incredible longevity or drops immediately after reaching whatever goal they set, therefore it doesn't make sense to drop this way after a two month command of the top, unless…

 

And not to defend the current offender she picked for a single, which is easily in the bottom 3 of the double album as a whole not only ttpd (which she only got herself to blame after not learning from the disastrous consequences reputation created), it's not like it's the sole current top 10 doing tragically overall, when almost half the top 10 is in the same boat.

In terms of Taylor on radio, she has many haters and people tend to love or hate her. And unfortunately, a lot of these avid haters are millennial/genX radio listeners. They make very few exceptions to Taylor's radio singles, so her songs usually freefall  that said ICDIWABH deserves it.

Unless what? That radio is dropping songs that actually are being consumed by the public like Birds of a feather (top 3 on streaming right now) and still playing songs like Too Sweet that are already old news for months or pushing songs that are not being consumed currently like Stargazing and I Can Do It With a Broken Heart with heavy payola.

Maybe Birds of a Feather goes recurrent or Whatcha Want gets purged, but this was a boring week overall.

 

Regarding HOT TO GO, Pop radio gave this one a very raw deal. It didn't deserve to be dropped after like 10 weeks, when we've got songs with lesser streaming like Make You Mine, Austin, The Door, and Stargazing being pushed for 20+ weeks.

 

If you want to get rid of HOT TO GO after 10-11 weeks, then fine, at least be consistent and drop every song after 10-11 weeks (like radio used to do in the 1970s).
