columbia payola is so evident, every time that a new song is dropping the old single drops hard on radio ☠️ utby was a strong top 3 but now they will release the miley x pharrell collab so is dropping, did the same for all miley latest radio singles and harry’s/lil nas too

Actually, this is normal. Back in the day, when songs had an 8-10 week rise on radio before being dropped, when an artist had a brand new single, it was common for the old single to be dropped on radio.

What isn't normal is radio holding onto songs for months on end, like we have for the last 4 years or so.

true, but the “strange move” is dropping the old single even when the new one isn’t even out or announced ☠️ this makes everything more clear

I don't think that's why UTBY is dropping.

The last time something happened like this was Renaissance, when Beyonce's team suddenly dropped Break My Soul. There were several months in between, but Cuff It was next pushed single, and for what it's worth, served much better longevity than BMS.

Hot 100 rankings of Houdini and the songs around it:

26 19 - 18 Lil Boo Thang, Paul Russell 14

29 29 - 10 Houdini, Dua Lipa 11

45 31 - 21 Used To Be Young, Miley Cyrus 8

61 50 - 19 Get Him Back!, Olivia Rodrigo 11

I guess this means UTBY and GHB are the real payola songs.

XXL is kind of like a modern day Mr. Brightside (the instrumental), obviously not at THAT level. But I wish the song received some more support on radio.
