Integr8 USA: Eilish 'Made For' Pop's Top Three, And 'Chemical' Posts Second Week As Alt's No. 1.

 

 

As a reminder that Integr8's callout charts rank the songs that truly resonate with each format's audience, Integr8 Research President Matt Bailey puts the current rush on Taylor Swift's re-recorded songs from her 2014 album “1989” – including “Is It Over Now? (Taylor's Version)”, which debuts at Pop this week – into perspective. “While Swifties are flocking to Spotify and other streaming services to hear Taylor’s latest re-recordings, the far larger passive consumption audience of radio cume listeners aren’t paying attention to Taylor’s every move,” he says. “They’ll need time to warm up to 'Is It Over Now?' and decide if they like it or not, just like any other song.”

 

At Alternative, as “Chemical” posts its second week at No. 1, the first since the week of Aug. 21, David Kushner's “Daylight,” a former 1 To Watch, makes its top-five debut, while Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda has this week's watcher with “Already Over.” Both U2's “Atomic City” and Green Day's “The American Dream Is Killing Me” debut this week, although, Bailey says, “those tracks had the lowest passion levels of any songs tested this week. While it’s totally typical for new songs to not test as well as songs listeners already have grown to know and love, these low debuts do at least make it a worthy question if U2 and even Green Day have long ago lost their relevance as contemporary alternative artists.”

so the solution to end the CD nightmare will be to push it out, even if it doesn't decrease much

Pop radio needs a complete overhaul. They need to go back to the old days when songs would be pushed faster, peak 8-10 weeks in, then dropped quickly after. The runs of Break My Soul and vampire show that pop radio can still do this today. Could you imagine how much more exciting Pop radio would be?

 

There is no reason why CS and CD should still be that high on Pop.
