I mean, it's not that surprising, it's a very polarizing song. While the message is universal and everyone agrees boys in general are liars and they suck, sonically it is a very particular song, not easily digestable or enjoyable. It took me some time to actually appreciate it.

One song to watch is Jelly Rolls "Need A Favor" which currently places in the Top 10 Active Rock, T20 Country & T50 Alternative. I do not know of another song to place in the Top 20 Rock & Country Charts simultaneously. Charlie Daniel's 1979 The Devil Went Down To Georgia received both Country & Rock airplay but Billboard didn't create a Mainstream Rock airplay chart until the early-mid 1980s.

 

Also as I've said before I don't think Last Night will get much further without a remix. LN is #12 on CHR but 2000+ spins behind #10 & not gaining much. Faith Hill's 1998 This Kiss (slight remix), Dixie

Chicks 2002-3 Landslide (more extensive remix) stalled just outside the T10 & Body Like A Back Road (no remix) all stalled in the 11-15 zone. Many bigger T40 stations won't play Country crossovers regardless of their metrics. Even with the Nelly remix Cruise barely scraped T10 at T40 & its audience levels were well behind other songs below it. FTR LN/Wallen aren't my favorites but I am amazed with his singles success. 

 

While not true at all stations "Need You Now" needed a dance remix for bigger stations reach #2/3 at T40. The NYN remix received support at Dance Mixplay & Dance Club Songs in 2010. Fast Car seems hot right now but I can't see it getting too high at T40 without a remix. And Luke Combs is highly unlikely to "officially" release a significantly remixed FC as that would significantly reduce his Country community credibility. 

 

@Tekken_Guy I don't know if you've noticed but Shinedown's Symptoms Of Being Human has now climbed to #21 at HAC, their best showing since 2009-10 If You Only Knew & is likely to reach T20 next week. But they're kinda trying to use a Nickelback-type strategy of sending different songs to Rock/Alternative than to Mainstream radio. Daylight went to both AR/ALT & HAC but not SOBH. HAC doesn't automatically equate to T40 airplay but its worth watching either way.

Really? Weird! BB just added a bunch of stations to its Country Panel which draws from MB. Otherwise the Top 5 gains wouIdnt be +2000 spins last week shared that chart link above yesterday.

 

And LN is only +1 T40 spin & +0.043 audience. Its up to #11 but still 1200 spins behind #10. HAC & AC may still increase airplay but LN is dying in that T40 #11-15 zone that kills most Country crossovers. Fancy Like also stalled #11-15. I forgot FL yesterday.
