Sorry, that Eyes Closed drop is not big enough. Seems like pop radio legitimately wants to play this

 

Looks like IB is going recurrent tomorrow, so BM just needs to hold on for one more week for that Top 10. Boy's a Liar is coming hard tho so it needs to watch out. It's really smashing HAC radio. Probably coming for #2 there considering it's still getting healthy daily updates over there. Really surprising considering it doesn't sound like a song they'd play at all

No, I think #5 is the ceiling for Calm Down. It is already on its 23rd week and is still nearly 4k spins away from DFY. I’ve got to figure that radio will drop it at some point.

Can someone please tell me what are the differences among the American Top 40, Mediabase chart and the Pop airplay chart on Billboard?

I used to think they are the same but clearly they are not

I tried looking up on Google but seems like those charts used to have a lot of different names over the years

There's a history about AT40. In its early years (the 80s) it used Billboard data (Hot 100), then after its return during the 90's it was based on Radio & Records (R&R) data, known as Mediabase nowadays. However, its chart updates on Fridays and it takes into account both current and recurrent. However, it's not an exact representation of the chart on spins, recurrent songs tend to be lowered and stradily decrease faster (mostly noted in recent years) to keep the chart freshier. One thing to have in mind, let's say you're hearing this week AT40's show, the chart corresponds to the one two weeks ago (March 17th).

 

Mediabase and the Billboard Pop airplay charts have more things in common than ever, because Billboard decided to merge its former BDS Radio data compilator with Mediabase. A difference they have are the recurrency rules that are a little bit different. Not exactly sure, but there should be a slight variance on the stations monitored, as if Mediabase monitors maybe 3 more stations that Billboard doesn't "consider" on its panel. In general, that doesn't lead on big variations. Plus, the tracking periods are different. Billboard's consists of Friday - Thursday (as all of Hot 100's components), while Mediabase uses Sunday - Saturday.

It doesn't necessarily protect it from being dropped on radio next week. UIFY got a lot of adds in Week 20, but was suddenly removed the next week. If Calm Down was newer, I'd definitely say it's going much further. But since Calm Down is on its 23rd week, I feel like it's on borrowed time. Flowers, Kill Bill, and Creepin were all released after Calm Down. Yes, there is a chance it could get there, but that would go against the grain with what Pop radio has done in the past.
