The overall numbers are so low. I remember when they were regularly twice as big as they are now a decade ago. Damn. Is it because less people commute to work on a daily basis than ever before? Work from home has become the majority/full-time situation for a good chunk of office workers in America (including myself).

Mainstream music has also just been really bad this year. Public only seems to be connecting with songs from 2021 or older and it’s late April. I feel like music is just not in a good place tbh.

Harry Styles is going to be #1 on radio for a really long time this summer, is how it’s currently looking. Song of the summer on lock unless someone else massive swoops in, but I’d say his path to song of the summer could not be opportune & clear.

He'll probably replace himself with his next release. It hasn't been confirmed he's releasing it as a single, but he performed a new song during his Coachella set and it has all the markings of a huge hit, if he plays his hand right he could have another 1-2 punch like with Adore You/Watermelon Sugar

Do you think Styles label might try & promote a song of his to Rock or Alternative? Watermelon Sugar might've worked at Alternative with some effort. AAA actually played it some but not enough for it to chart.

Yes. I don't think Mediabase has a specific rule for these cases (songs switching from Recurrent to Current status). From what I'm understanding: They are removing these once-again Current songs once they fall below their original peak. #4 was Miss Levitating's peak before the 2nd wind, so it went recurrent once it dropped to #5 after hitting the top. In Glass Animals case, HW peaked originally at #12 I think, so it could probably go recurrent applying the general rule (after spending 20 weeks on the chart and hitting officially the Top 10, you go recurrent if you drop below the Top 10).
