grindr has always been awful in my region, a bunch of old mid at best tops who can't host 80% of the time and still want you to have the perfect body, shaved ass and be douched at their disposition. not only that dynamic is exhaustive but the app doesn't make it better by not letting me clean my grid by blocking the blank profiles. i had a lot of success on grindr when looking for hookups but now the app is pretty much unusable.
