I had a ~busy day so I only managed to listen 3 times so far and OMGGG girls I'm absolutely gooped, gagged, geeshed, eviscerated, deceased The comparison to the back half of Sweetener couldn't be more accurate, but it encompasses so much of her previous albums imo. It felt like an elevation of all the things that she's tried so far (R&B, Pop, etc). It's like she took all of their strengths and put them into this one without retreading old ground. Everything from YT to Positions was building up for this brilliantly produced and written album. Its easily her most cohesive, consistent, and creative record yet. I hate to be bold and crown it as her best album on release day but none of her albums immediately and fully clicked with me like this. I was a bit worried after the lengths were revealed because I thought they were a bit short but I'm so glad that each song had enough room to breathe, unlike Positions. The bridges/outros on this album are everything. I wanted to list my highlights but ended up posting the entire tracklist. There's not a single skip on here. I'm so ******* obsessed with We Can't Be Friends in particular...something in her vocal performance has me tearing up with each listen omg. Yes, And? was such a red herring nn, but I still adore that song and it sounds even better in context. Y'all I still can't believe we made it. All of the meltdowns in the base were worth it. I'm so proud of her.
