I know this is not the most pressing issue at the moment, but how did the IDF manage to win the propaganda war when most of their soldiers can barely hide their desire to slaughter innocent civilians?

I don't know how to explain this feeling but being a Lady Gaga stan in 2023 is acknowledging that Gaga is better than most popstars in range and depth of talent, but also acknowledging that most popstars are stomping her when it comes to being a proper popstar. It's also acknowledging that she cares about her general career having signed up for Joker 2, but also acknowledging that she's seemingly intentionally torching her career on purpose. It's truly confusing. I don't know if she intends on being a proper popstar moving forward but I'd rather she announced her retirement if she genuinely lost interest because at least that would end expectations and we could all move on peacefully. If she does intend on continuing as a proper popstar, I hope she finds herself in the company of people that can actually support her. One of the greatest popstars of our time should not have worse management than a suburban 7-Eleven. I wonder if Bobby Campbell is the right manager for her anymore. He handled her post-ARTPOP rebrand masterfully, but the way he's handled her hiatus has been questionable. If Lady Gaga and Co. plan to continue making money off of this audience, I hope they acknowledge how woefully they've treated that audience this year.

Well...you are indeed a victim of propaganda and pinkwashing. Human rights are not transactional, and this rhetoric in the gay community is incredibly selfish and reeks of egocentrism. You don't wanna be one of the “I can excuse genocide and colonialism, but I draw the line at gay rights" folks now, do you? Last year, we saw several videos of Ukrainians being blatantly racist during the war. Is that horrible? Absolutely. Does it justify Russia's crimes against them? Absolutely not. I know many of you are tired of us drawing comparisons to Ukraine but the hypocrisy is crazy. I know this sounds "bad" but frankly...LGBTQ+ rights are the least of Palestinians' concerns when they've been fighting occupation for +70 years. No country can work out these issues under settler-colonialism and an apartheid system. Change will come from within when Palestinians are actually able to live and progress, not when they're afraid of dying every day. Also, it's almost like you guys always forget that Palestinian queer people do exist and are currently being bombed by the so-called progressive Israel. And if they're not being bombed, then the IDF is blackmailing them and threatening to out them to their families. TLDR: Liberal sympathy is extremely conditional on Palestinians being the "perfect victims". I know it sounds crazy but Palestinians don't need to be woke and progressive angels to garner empathy/support or have the most basic human rights. No rights can be gained for any minority until they're free from occupation. I could go on forever, but I really urge you to read more about this.

The responses to this thread are.. incredibly weird. From how some posts make it sound, you'd think the viewership was 98% white. It's actually insane that people act like having "only" 41% POC viewership (which, again, is in line with the demographics of the US population) is some sort of gotcha. But I guess that's ATRL.

Sis, I wanted to just touch on this to kind of cap it off without us getting into some kind of back and forth. I want to clarify that I don’t believe this thread serves as some kind of like.. praxis, like as though it has some kind of or any material contribution to the events in geopolitics unfolding, outside of any resource organization for donations or comforts our tiny little corner of the internet can possibly bring to one another. But part of that is where my discomfort comes from. And for clarity, it was less you and more-so someone like Monster Megamind being like “well! Hopefully Biden keeps this under order to keep those approvals up! 10k dead Gazans would be a reasonably low number to keep this in order!” And that in here of all places, a space that is largely inconsequential to anything in the real world, you still have people with a kind of knee-jerk call-to-action to defend what they perceive as inherently commanding Western institutions and their sanctity inherent to their Western-ness. Like even getting into “well if we really breakdown the demographics, it’s clear that this is just the pro-Israel reality of a majority of Americans, and so for practical incrementalism, the average US poli-“ is.. silly? There’s no explanation that can wash away the objective immorality of America’s investment in Palestinian genocide. And that people who at least post on a virtual space that they care about Palestinians, even if to just comfort themselves, should also reconcile with that if they’re an American. You’re asking me to provide a solution as an alternative to Biden’s solution, but part of my discomfort is people still thinking the West has the authority to give solutions out to people whose deaths they sign. If a Palestinian decides armed resistance is the only way forward against Israeli violence, I just can’t imagine someone in the Western world feeling comfortable enough to be like “Are you sure this is the path you wanna go? :)” Like I’m kinda losing my mind at the absurdity of a Palestinian American user being upset over Biden’s pro-genocide comments and yet that kind of chauvinism still manifesting in people being like “yeah, I 100% get why this is all upsetting for you *hugs* … you’re still going to vote for Joe though right? Don’t forget what they say about the lesser evil..”, while Biden is like “Gazans chose the lesser evil of Hamas over subjugation by Israelis so now we have to make them Egyptians!”. Like doesn't this feel depraved? The stakes are quite literally life and death for millions and the kind of things progressive politicians claim to be about, and yet some people's only thoughts are like "but what about ensuring the majority of the Senate!?" and just the tone of that is just making me very negatively polarized to... whatever that is.
