sumthintoxic82 Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 im over LWYMMD now...other than the video, it was just overrated...
jose168 Posted December 13, 2017 Author Posted December 13, 2017 I have my first final today, excited 45. Golden - Ribongia/Owen Rabbit I've been following Owen Rabbit for a bit now and its gotten to the point where im excited when he releases. Love melancholy vocal performances over house and trap beats, this is the former 44. Big Fish - Vince Staples one of Vince's more autobiographical pieces, he raps about how rap changed his life. The second verse in particular shows off his clever wordplay, vince is one of the more astute guys in the game. Juicy J provides a great hook as well. 43. Tell Me You Love Me - Demi Lovato This is actually probably my favorite Demi Lovato song. It's very signature to her style in over the top vocal-isms but it's got great style. I love the almost choir like background vocals on this that emphasize longing. There's almost a sense of delusion in this longing to. 42. The Others - The Jezabels The Jezabels are another Australian act I'm beginning to fawn over. We love sad yet euphoric synthpop (this is a new concept). 41. Submission - Gorillaz/Kelela/Danny Brown This song is another example of Gorillaz using the talents of their guests very well. Kelela sounds beautiful as usual and Danny's manic verse works so well here. The song is pretty current as well, with the distorted chopped vocal chorus sounding a stepping stone away from many edm cuts on the radio today.
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 13, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 13, 2017 Love Big Fish. Probably the 6th best on the album? Submission was cute for a while, but then we got a Kelela album/single so I stopped using it. Omg didn't know The Jezabels gave us new songs. Lemme listen.

bluth Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 i think i expected more of submission for having QUEEN and danny brown on it but it was probs one of the better songs on that... album. vince <3 never listened to demi's material outside of sns because i KNOW she will never top the 1-2 punch that was cfts-confident. hope ur final went/goes well!
Eeveelution Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Yeah, TMYLM is one of her only remarkable songs to date. Big Fish is great too!
TheWayWeWere Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 TMYLM slays me from first listen, my favorite Demi song too
Dom Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 demi did that. deserves to make it alone for daddy issues.
Vilppu Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Big Fish and The Others are v good. 5 hours ago, jose168 said: I have my first final today, excited good luck!
jose168 Posted December 13, 2017 Author Posted December 13, 2017 One more before i head out TOP 40! 40. No Known Drink Or Drug - Japandroids I LOVE the structure of this song. I think it would have made a perfect closer, the verses stacked back to back in the front and just one echoing chorus to a fade out just sounds great. 39. Los Ageless - St. Vincent As someone from NY I was a little offended at how much better the Los Angeles inspired track was. I think it captures the mania of living in certain cut throat fast paced cultures and love life very well. 38. Knife In The Safe Room - Darkest Hour Either metal is becoming more woke or the lyrics are becoming more and more fitting. Topics of anarchy and the end of the world hit close to home these days I guess. 37. LMK - Kelela Kelela merges 90s alt rnb with todays and reaches extraordinary highs in her discography. I love all these up and coming rnb women finding their voices and niches in 2017. It's the beginning of a wave imo. 36. Things It Would Have Been Helpful To Know Before The Revolution (The Haxan Cloak Remix) - Father John Misty What a dreadful title, reminds me of the annoying Panic! At the disco titles from my childhood. The spacey production with pounding slow synths gives this song an appropriate setting considering it's post apocalyptic nature
