BTS owes zero to Psy :dies:. They are a cute boy band and pre teen girls drool over those types no matter the race. Thats why they are smashing, not because some Kpop song went viral YEARS ago

Those teen girls would never have thought Koreans even made music if it weren’t for Gangnam Style’s impacf :rip:

The only thing PSY did was that he made people view Kpop as a joke. Nothing else. It was groups like Big Bang, SNSD and others that helped Kpop expand globally. It took Kpop a few years to catch up with Western pop and it's actually only now exploding mostly bc of BTS and BP. Those older groups just made a foundation.

Congrats to BTS :clap3:

The fact Dear Future Husband and Me Too were both so close and she would have done it three years in a row :skull::jonny:

Edit: Like I'm Gonna Lose You wasn't solo but she'd have done it two years :clap3:

This is so offensive to PSY :deadbanana2:

without gangnam style, BTS would be a semi big kpop group as they rely on international fans for most of their recognition.

I love tea

BTS's success is definitely fandom-driven, there's no doubt about that. But this is ridiculously impressive for an Asian boyband. I'm sure Psy played a major role in popularizing K-Pop as a whole but I wouldn't necessarily say BTS' success was directly linked to it.

Its obvious to me that BTS are not gonna do anything close to what 1D did. They went proper mainstream, sold megamillions, and certain members transcended pop and have become household names. Theres a glass ceiling with BTS. A cultural barrier. There, I said it.

Uh, this goes without saying? Aside from a chorus here or there in broken English, they're literally singing in a completely different language and seem adamant that that won't change. Surely no sane human being thinks otherwise.

Hmm, I think the only album from the Grammy cycle with a multi-week #1 and another T10 is Divide.

From the new Grammy cycle, we already have Reputation.

@simmnfierzig Do you think there is any chance for Havana to reach #1 after Perfect (when the sales boost from the duet will drastically fall)? :'(
