Valentine Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 Having a meltdown over 30k. God they're embarrassing
Ash12345 Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 30k isn't small lmao rihanna got anti's 2nd week at #1 with less than 20k and that's not even the lowest selling #1.

If Billboard were to add the 30K to its original 1.26M figure, then reputation's debut figure would go up by 2.4%. HDD's really this up in arms about a ~2% margin of error?. That's the equivalent of HDD complaining that they reported an album as selling 50K but Billboard only reported it as 49K Not really 30k is 30k It'd be like BB saying 5H's last album opened with 2k instead of 32k pure sales. A massive massive difference.

Also thanks to HDD we get a lot of sales and receipts after their first week sales, so i support them. HDD doesn't even have accurate receipts. Nielsen Soundscan is the industry standard and who provide BB with numbers.

Duca Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 the difference is over 50k it doesn't make sense honestly

A massive massive difference. It's not like that at all though When a number is so massive, it doesn't make sense to look at a chunk of it as an absolute value. You have to look at it as a proportion to the entire number. If BB had reported 5H opened with 2K when they really opened with 32K, it'd be a massive difference because that would have meant that Billboard was off by 94% which is obviously a HUGE margin of error. Being off by 94% is nowhere close to being off by 2%, even though both sales are off by the same absolute number. Billboard and HDD use different methods and sources when determining their sales figures, so there's obviously going to be a small margin of error between them. The 2% error is one that we accept basically every single week since Billboard's sales figures are almost always off from HDD's by 1-2K sales on a 50K selling album. The only reason people are making such a big deal out of this one in particular is because the debut was so big that the 2% just looks bigger. But it's really the exact same margin of error.

OneAndOnly Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 Scott and his label are really dumb as **** for jumping the gun and using unofficial figures to brag instead of waiting for Billboard.
RihannaRTT Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 HDD lost again? Color me surprised... lol.

popmusic Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 I think the reason is Nielsen uses some weight factors for physical sales.
Rentboy Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 Is he a Taylor fangirl or what? He sounds like one. Angry that she doesnt get to beat her 1989 debut. Ridiculous to imply boosting her numbers is important for the entire music business! I find your artist bias far more worrying. Makes me doubt your numbers.

It’s also enough to make this Taylor’s record high debut. I’m glad they’re holding Billboard accountable for their inaccuracies. 19 hours ago, Communion said: HDD doesn't even have accurate receipts. It’s good to see multiple companies dragging each other for any and all inaccuracies.

You must be new sis cause HDD conceded Billboard is the standard cause they're using BB's figures for 1989 and not their own.

Why would you quote Chartmasters to the person who runs their thread? HDD isn’t always accurate nor is Billboard. The lashings they give each other and competition for accuracy is a good thing for the industry and chart fans.
