ATRL Moderator Element Posted October 14, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted October 14, 2017 Welcome castaways to your 6th results show! Below will be the rates of each entry from all four judges. You were all rated on a scale of 1 to 10. Your average score will be combined into a tribe average which will determine which tribes are losing a member. After I reveal the scores, I will post the final results which will include how you ranked on your tribe, against all castaways, and finally the overall tribe rankings this round. The lowest averaging tribe will be headed to Tribal Council where they will vote off one member, who will become the 10th eliminated player of the season. With that said, here are the scores… Alcantra wesleywalrus – Poor Unfortunate Souls - Ursula from The Little Mermaid Element - 3.5 - https://chipublib.bibliocommons.com/item/show/1612613126# rl231 - 4.5 - I can kinda see where you were coming from, but the song is based in Ursula trying to steal Ariel’s voice, so it doesn’t necessarily feel genuine. It also doesn’t delve into the criminal background. Dylan - 4 - The good news is everyone knows Ursula is genuinely evil. The bad news is the bulk of this song focuses on Ursula trying to convince Ariel to give her her voice. The only aspect you (sort of) have is remorse, but obviously it’s feigned remorse and not genuine at all. Shoulda paypaled me, huh? T-Swizz - 3.5 - Have you ever watched the Little Mermaid? Ursula wasn’t genuinely remorseful about her past actions, she simply tricks Ariel into thinking she’s changed. Sure, she mentions “mending” her ways in the first verse, but there’s no actual guilt associated with it. Marvin – I’m Sorry - Boosie BadAzz Element - 5.5 - I’m dying at this dude’s stage name… BOOSIE BADAZZ? Like what on earth is that. This is literally a whining laundry list of apologies. He mentions being in jail, but there’s no sense of the magnitude of his crimes or if he’s really villainous. Sure, his guilt could be measured by the number of names dropped in the track, but there’s no real depth or complexity here. The only strong part for me is the end where he says he begged God for forgiveness in jail. rl231 - 5.5 - WHAT DID HE DO, MARVIN?! WHAT DID HE DO?! Dylan - 5.5 - At least your track contains some sort of genuine emotion. This guy is obviously SORRY. That’s more than some people can say. No, this guy is not a psychopath (or the lyrics don’t tell us that) and the song is basically “Sorry, Blame It On Me” by Akon 2.0. He’s sorry about choices he’s made in his life but there’s no indication as to what crimes he’s committed. But, I’m pretty sure cold blooded murder isn’t one of them. T-Swizz - 4.5 - This is basically one over-sized apology letter to every person he’s ever met. But why exactly is he so apologetic? He never really mentions or alludes to the crime he committed, just all the bad choices and mistakes that he’s made throughout his life. Speezy – Dreaming While You Sleep - Genesis Element - 5 - This was pretty much an accident. There’s no villainy here and I think many people would react very similarly in the circumstances. He does show some guilt and remorse for what happened, but it just isn’t on point for what the theme is. rl231 - 5.5 - Basically, he feels guilty for the hit and run he committed, but he’s not really a terrible person, and therein lies the problem with the entry. It’s not fully realized as a song for this round. Dylan - 7 - I’m going to be the lone wolf here but I think “ne’er do well” can involve someone who is irresponsible. Running away after you run someone over accidentally is irresponsible. It’s obviously something many people do out of fear rather than evil intent, but I think we can all agree it’s a bad course of action to take. No, this protagonist is not a psychopath and that’s why your score isn’t higher being that the task did state it is focusing on evil nature. But, the dude’s losing sleep over this and claiming he’ll be trapped for the rest of his life based on what he did. And what he did is still a serious matter. The round was hard and you did a fine job by me. T-Swizz - 4.5 - This isn’t about a villain’s psychopathy or any evil personality, it was about a man that was too tired to see a girl step out onto the road. This seems like a mistake that virtually ANYONE could make. Your submissions have usually been on point but this one is a bit off-base, but misfires are to be expected given the difficulty of this challenge. talent – Regrets - Jay-Z Element - 6 - The chorus is not bad, but there’s so many other lyrics in this song that blur the main message we were hoping for. He has regrets from criminal/gangster activity, but it’s a surface-level explanation. rl231 - 6.5 - On a strict feeling remorse for your actions level because of the crimes you committed, then yes, you’ve hit the theme. Otherwise, where’s the villainy? Dylan - 6.5 - The chorus is pretty fit for the theme. It’s not entirely there but it works. However, the verses are so all over the place that there’s no real main point he makes here. He lives with regrets from gang related actions, but… does that make the guy evil? Eh. Not a bad job though. T-Swizz - 6 - I mean this does a slightly better job of showing remorse for a crime but it’s still pretty lacking. Riri. – Knoxville Girl - The Louvin Brothers Element - 8 - The song was setting itself up to be REALLY strong with the depiction of the murder and how villainous he was to ignore her begging for mercy. Then, it kind of just ended with only a few lines hinting at his remorse and guilt at night. Regardless, this was the best entry on Alcantra. rl231 - 8.5 - Woo, the darkness from this entry! I totally felt it from reading the lyrics and the deep storytelling. The only thing that made it imperfect was the ambiguity of the remorse, other than that very ending. Otherwise, good job! Dylan - 9 - Unlike every other entry on this tribe, we’re dealing with someone who literally murdered someone in cold blood. Worse off, someone they loved. This would be a 10 but it’s a little ambiguous in how remorseful he feels about it. The remorse is there but it’s not elaborated on much. Regardless, you’re obviously safe this round so I’ll see you next round! T-Swizz - 8 - So, we've got a young boy who's slept with his girlfriend, come under some pressure to marry her, and then kills her instead. Very cool and interesting. Sure there’s a palpable sadness in his voice but he doesn’t go into much detail about his guilt/remorse. Lussan Alena – Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen Element - 10 - You can thank T-Swizz for encouraging me to re-evaluate my score rl231 - 10 - ALENA CAME TO PLAY, Y’ALL. As Swizz said, it’s definitely a multi-layered song that can be taken in multiple directions, but at its surface level, it fits the theme to a T. Great job! Dylan - 10 - This was the only song I could think of when this round was posted. So hard, lmao. Anyway, good job snatching this one. I would assume it was a popular choice this round. See you next round! T-Swizz - 10 - The PERFECT choice. This is this one of the few entries that clearly shows the narrator confessing to a murder in the first verse, regret and fear in the second, and a form of acceptance in the final. BUT this could also be interpreted as an allegory for Freddie’s struggles with his sexuality. I always support multi-layered songs and the great thing about this is there’s so many ways to interpret it! Only self-loathing gays would rate this anything but a 10! Citrus – I Hung My Head - Johnny Cash Element - 9 - I think that this one is pretty crystal clear, but it definitely pales in comparison to some of the 9.5 and 10 entries this round. He almost makes the shooting feel slightly accidental?? The guilt is very well illustrated though. rl231 - 9 - You definitely feel the guilt (sidenote: Johnny Cash plays guilty really well in his songs) in the lyrics. There is definitely the sense of psychopathy and coldness when he kills someone, so it’s interesting when guilt is tied into it too. Dylan - 9 - He killed. He feels bad. Works for me! Though he doesn’t seem to be Satan in disguise (cc: the following entry). T-Swizz - 8.5 - A simple but effective song. Shows that he committed the crime and felt remorse/guilt and does a slightly better job of doing so than others. Losing my ground – A Little Piece of Heaven - Avenged Sevenfold Element - 10 - What the actual **** rl231 - 10 - I decided to watch the music video, and now I’m traumatized. Thanks. Dylan - 10 - http://i.imgur.com/A8qbO9k.gif You are a LUNATIC. Seek help! T-Swizz - 10 - I was reading this at an Applebees (yes, I’m that committed) and I let out a frantic scream when reading the lyrics. K$Ellie – O’Malley’s Bar - Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds Element - 6 - This might be the longest song ever submitted in the history of ATRL Survivor!! The details in this song are horrifying and disturbing. I honestly wasn’t expecting something with this level of carnage. There really isn’t anything to do with guilt in this entry - he dies a sociopathic and arrogant lunatic. But the sheer amount of villainous detail keeps your score at this level from me. rl231 - 7 - “And my dick felt long and hard” - WHAT. THE. WHAT. I wish he showed guilt, but...it fits the other part of the theme decently. Dylan - 7.5 - There’s literally no remorse to be found but you’re one of the few to truly capture an absolute psychopath in your entry so I basically don’t care about that too much. T-Swizz - 6 - When we’re forced to read heaps and heaps of lyrics only for it to end up being mediocre ;/ Mariah4life – Banks of the Ohio - Johnny Cash Element - 8 - The storyline here is very, very similar to Knoxville Girl. I think the guilt is a little bit more clear here, but it still remains fairly succinct. Not bad! rl231 - 8.5 - See thoughts from Riri. lol Dylan - 9 - Is this not lowkey the same song Riri submitted? Weird. But good for you seeing as Riri did a very good job this round. T-Swizz - 8 - It’s a good thing Google didn’t exist in 1989! Straight up beyonce’d The Louvin Brothers. Loveyoubxtch – They’re Hanging Me Tonight - Marty Robbins Element - 10 - Yep, this is pretty perfect. rl231 - 9.5 - WOOT. Dylan - 9.5 - Omg I’m watching T-Swizz type and its so gross. I just imagine food stained fingers smashing a tiny keyboard to death. Anyway, this is a very fitting entry. Though I’m very much losing hope of finding any “bops” this round. T-Swizz - 9 - This was a good choice. Not the most exciting but it was pretty straight-forward and fulfilled all the prerequisites we were looking for. Cofresí MusicLoverDude – Call Me Guilty - Jazmine Sullivan Element - 4 - I know that you struggled with finding a song this round, so you’re probably expecting this score. The song definitely hones in on murder as its theme, but it ultimately doesn’t demonstrate a villainous intention nor does she show us any guilt. I’m pretty sure we are supposed to side with Jazmine and support her choice. rl231 - 5 - JAZMINE SULLIVAN IS THE MOST UNDERRATED. IN. THE. GAME. But yeah, nah she ain’t guilty. Dylan - 4.5 - The good news here is that she did kill someone. Well I mean it’s not good news but it’s good news score wise for this round! However, she’s not sorry and she’s not exactly a lunatic for killing her abuser. I could forgive the latter a bit had she expressed remorse for killing but there is none present. Sorry. I know you’ve been doing pretty well. T-Swizz - 4 - This could technically be classified as self-defense if she thought her life was in danger, but I think the idea of her being a criminal or villain is pretty far-fetched. PoKiTaurus – Man Down - Rihanna Element - 10 - You snatched this song in like 2 seconds and it’s obviously one of the best choices for the theme!! rl231 - 9 - I know people love this song, but...it’s one of my least favorite ones of hers. But yes, it’s totally fitting. I’m not sure if she’s super evil, but good job! Dylan - 9 - When I originally saw this…. I was like NOOOOO! But then I remembered only the music video depicts Rihanna as a rape victim. So, this song is similar to “I Hung My Head” in the sense that it covers all bases, but I don’t necessarily believe the person is straight up evil. Still probably your best round so far. T-Swizz - 9 - The song gets a bit repetitive but it touches base with everything we were looking for this round. Aciid – Stay Wide Awake - Eminem Element - 7 - I think that the criminal activity is pretty clear here. It’s disgusting and deplorable, and it reminds me as to why I am not a rap fan. He has a few moments where he expresses some sense of remorse/guilt, but there could have been a lot more. I was hoping that the final verse would show it. rl231 - 8 - Eminem gets dark as hell in some of his songs. I can kinda see the remorse/guilt, but it’s too ambiguous. Dylan - 7 - I still have no idea how Eminem has survived in the age of ruining people’s careers over a tweet when he has an entire discography of abusing women. But, as for the entry…. The crime he is describing is disgusting and evil and clear representation of a psychopath. However, he doesn’t seem too guilty about it. Pretty good choice though. T-Swizz - 7 - I’m not a huge fan of this, there was a lot of potential but he didn’t delve deep enough into his rehabilitation. Kathlen – Delilah - Tom Jones Element - 7.5 - I feel like there could have been some more guilt here… he’s expressing a lot of “why did YOU do this to me?” versus “oh no, why did I do this horrible thing?” I do note the lines where he asks her for forgiveness, but they get a little lost. And finally, the description of the crime is fairly intriguing and premeditated. rl231 - 7 - It’s interesting because he feels kinda guilty...but then doesn’t. Dylan - 7 - We’re dealing with a lunatic here but he seems to be blaming her a tad too much for his “forgive me” lines to be taken too seriously. T-Swizz - 7 - Meh! Fruity – Country Death Song - Violent Femmes Element - 9 - Jesus this is awful! I wish that the guilt section was a little more substantial, but this is a solid (albeit disturbing) choice. rl231 - 9 - https://media.tenor.com/images/7392b6fa2cfc0f9dd7ecf902f0738614/tenor.gif Dylan - 9 - This round is horrifying can we like NOT do this again? Anyway, the only lacking part in this entry is the guilt aspect but it’s not terribly lacking either. Nice job. T-Swizz - 8 - I am in utter disbelief, of course this would be a souther singer. If they’re not peeping on their daughters, they’re pushing them down wells. Rhisiart – Johanna (Mea Culpa) - from Sweeney Todd Element - 7 - I did a little research! And bitch you stole my jacket! But in all seriousness, I didn’t fully understand what was going on until I read the background. This POS is using a PEEPHOLE on his DAUGHTER? I’m done w this round. I’m spent! He’s certainly feeling very guilty and keeps whipping himself, if I’m gathering things correctly? I’m confused and the lyrics are vague. Take your 7. rl231 - 5 - I’m confused lol, but it PARTIALLY fits it lyrically. Dylan - 5 - Unfortunately this is one of the cases where the song may actually fit the round given the context of Sweeney Todd, but you guys are told not to submit songs that will be hard to understand by themselves. It should speak on its own. And it… doesn’t. T-Swizz - 5- The actual song is pretty sparse and doesn’t necessarily detail the crime or the feeling of guilt. I’m sure there’s a great backstory but the song is lacking lyrically. Lucky#17 – Johnny 99 - Bruce Springsteen Element - 5 - I don’t really see any guilt expressed here, and the crime is discussed but not really supported by much detail or personal perspective. rl231 - 5.5 - I said, I said, where is the guilt, sir? Dylan - 6 - He killed someone but he doesn’t seem to regret it. And while I scored a few songs pretty high despite also lacking guilt, those songs seemed to better detail the murder and the mental process beyond it. T-Swizz - 3 - This was pretty bad. Final Results coming up!

Lucky#17 Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 mess, the murderer in my song is clearly a regretful mess bc he was drunk when he shot a bastard & the guilt makes him want to die instead of continue to live. but ok, as long as we safe.
