What's the difference? Both had only audio youtube video, both were pushed on radio (Sam has a bigger radio deal, yes), but on the other hand Taylor is ahead of Sam on all Spotify playlists. Also neither of them did any live promo. I don't want to get into fights about these things, but you have to be realistic - "...Ready for It!" was indeed promoted better by spotify than some big artists lead singles.

As for Sam being #2, I think that's not possible, it will be a close race for #1 between Taylor and Cardi.

I did that because the only reason he's rooting for that song is Alessia.

And I wasn't one of those claiming that Bieber is responsible for Despacito smashing, I admit that he is the reason it was pushed into mainstream and got acknowledged by wider GP, but after that the song got the life of its own. If it was the other way around and he was the reason for its 16 week smashing the charts then we would've had "Friends" at #1 for 3 weeks now, and that's not happening.
