You grouping them by gen is correct, and they're in the correct order. But within each gen, the orders are wrong, if that makes sense.

@mxtthewdelrey, “Progress”

Okay, so this fit the challenge pretty well. I don’t know that name dropping it was necessary though, mainly because that seems like the only imagery you use pertaining to the stone. Not that you had to do that, though, you could do what the stone represents, and that’s what this looks like. It felt personal, and conveyed a decent amount of emotion. There’s not a lot of narrative going on, but what’s there is sufficient. Unfortunately, there’s a couple of things that boil this all back down to nothing. Mainly the plethora of forced rhymes, they were literally everywhere, and that really dampened the experience. I won’t be a broken record and if you want the rundown on forced rhymes then read Tsareena’s review, but I think maybe you should stop trying so hard to rhyme. I know it’s sometimes hard to think about a song that doesn’t rhyme, but it can work, and who knows - that could be one of the challenges this season (though it was done last season, so probably not).  I usually tell most people to pick a rhyme scheme and stick to it to keep them from just writing free verse, but I think you need to do the opposite. I’m not saying write a song with no rhymes, though you could do that if you wanted to. Just place less emphasis on them.

“Waiting for the moment our love becomes the perch of a dove / Calm the storm and bring me back to the place that I dream of”

ahhhh, not you being the one to kinda not like my song that much this round :jonny: i'm sorry sis! i apologise if my rhymes feel forced!!!

@mxtthewdelrey – Progress

n sis what was the purpose of “amethyst” in the first line? This song does show some progress. The awkward lines are a little more far between (“I have moved away from all our strife”), and the weird ones border on clever (“and cut them all up with my love-knife”). And your structure was actually quite inventive. I loved the bridge, it felt confessional and the structure made me never quite know when the confession was ending.

ahh jackson love thiss!!! i chose the birth stone amethyst cause i liked the word amethyst and so i was just like "**** it, we gonna start the song with the word amethyst" and then i rhymed it with FIST and it went from there!

#loveknife

Random Review #3

@mxtthewdelrey This was..surprisingly apt. The topic is tired AF, but, stylistically, I feel like you really captured Amy's essence and I commend you on that. You had some awkward and clunky lines (even for her) in the chorus, but the way your first verse went into the chorus and so on was very Frank album. Good job.

@mxtthewdelrey - I think this could've been great if you had been a little more specific. It's hard to connect to the narrator's struggles when we don't know what they are. Using 'Amethyst' in each verse was a little extra, and there are some more choice lines (diet/quiet). However, there's a glimmer in the final line of the chorus with the line "I think I'm making progress". That idea is so beautiful and relatable to everyone who has ever struggled with an addiction or problematic behavior. I wish you had really centered the song around that line more, because I love every bit of it.

CITRUS you are an absolute darling for these :heart2::heart2::heart2: soooooo cute :')

At least I'm Top 5 for cere confirmed, and I'm assuming somewhere in the Top 3 for Citrus. :cupid: Though I don't know where I am in Jackson's, but it's not Top 3 or 5. :rip:

Her discography is perfection. I actually love ALL of her albums (even if her 00s work isn't as appreciated by her fans outside of Scarlet's Walk - but some know the TEA of the gems it holds on albums like Abnormally Attracted to Sin & American Doll Posse).

Little Earthquakes is perfection, Girl, Silent All These Years, Winter, China, Leather, Mother, the 2015 deluxe track edition songs like Take To The Sky ahh amazing :smitten:

If you like LE you should check out Under The Pink where Cornflake is from next (Pretty Good Year, God, Bells For Her, Past The Mission, Baker Baker, let me stop here cause i'm naming the whole album :skull:) & then maybe Scarlet's Walk (Amber Waves, A Sorta Fairytale, Carbon, Crazy, Your Cloud, I Can't See New York :smitten:) before you get into her BEST work and hardest to disgest Boys for Pele & From The Choirgirl Hotel.

whewwwwww China is still such a scalp ! :jonny4:  :weeps:  :weeps:  why are all her songs (at least the ones I've heard) so tragically realistic ? :'(

All the way to New York
I can feel the distance getting close
You're right next to me
But I need an airplane
I can feel the distance as you breathe
Sometimes I think you want me to touch you
How can I when you build the great wall around you
In your eyes I saw the future together

You just look away in the distance

China decorates our table
Funny how the cracks don't seem to show
Pour the wine dear
You say we'll take a holiday
But we never can agree on where to go

Sometimes I think you want me to touch you
How can I when you build the great wall around you
In your eyes I saw the future together

You just look away in the distance

China all the way to New York
Maybe you got lost in Mexico
You're right next to me
I think that you can hear me
Funny how the distance
Learns to grow

Sometimes I think you want me to touch you
How can I when you build the great wall around you

I can feel the distance
I can feel the distance
I can feel the distance getting close

A MASTERPIECE

ajdfhaksjf let me take notes from her on how to write a good, succinct song that makes sense

If you're comfortable with Tori's weird style by Under The Pink then you might as well listen to Boys For Pele instead after since it's more consistent then Scarlet's Walk which I feel gets a bit boring by the final 3 tracks but I like the deeper themes into the Native American genocide thing. But I'd suggest checking out the singles first off both album to see which you vibe with more since I feel like you'll end up liking Boys for Pele anyways based on your exquisite taste. :gaycat3:

ddd, you better stan Bells For Her or i'm coming for you, the most relatable end of a friendship song ever :weeps: the way it torn my heart apart then put it back together after I went through that earlier this year :weeps:

i would be here for tori & lana :gaycat4:

Underneath the stars above

I said, "NO STOP.

I AM NOT...giving up on us"

And I am not going anywhere...soon

Annie grab your bass guitar

Help me bring in the October moon

YOU SHOUT, RUN FOR COVER

I scream, "rev the triumph's engine"

YOU SAY "BABY WE'RE TOO LATE

FROM THE CLOUD RIDERS NO ESCAPE"

Darling, what's the blanket for?

Riding out this storm

We'll be riding out this storm...

Native Invader is kinda that album of the year
