If you have any song to request just ask me. I'm working to be bring the whole Top 100 to date. (I'll keep updating weekly...) Last Year's Predictions I don't know if Despacito can close the gap with Sheeran or not. If Ed runs out the chart year, he'll have amazing airplay numbers. Despacito will have the sales and streaming advantage. But, even though both songs debuted the same week, Despacito didn't reach the Top 40 until a week or two before hitting #1. SOY on the other hand has spent every a week so far within the Top 10, and 27 of those weeks within the Top Five.

I just think it's not that good of a song. For instance, Mi gente is loads catchier and I love the beat or even a song like believer if it were in the same position I could at least say I really like the song and think it's a quality song. unfortunately, other factors take play and I'd prefer a song that will most likely be remembered past this year (Shape of you) to be the #1 song of the year. I wouldn't want gangham style to have been the #1 song even though it was fun for the moment. So yeah...
brainmaniac Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 The whole chart seems like a mess. The Top 20 of Year End is still usually filled with huge songs, but not this year Issues? iSpy? Congratulations? Mask Off? Scars To Your Beautiful? 24K Magic and Humble being Top 10 is surprising too Closer getting that Top 10 two years in a row though

The Nielsen mid-year report had them at 494M, 505M, and 483M streams in 2017 (good for 7th, 6th, and 8th out of all songs). So they definitely smashed.

It's kinda sad Streaming is taking up too much of the points on the H 100. Ironically, many of the people who want streaming to "take over" are the same who complain about the slow nature of the charts lol.

How Do I Live was #9 in 1997 and #5 in 1998. So Closer would be in good company should it be Top 10 two consecutive chart years. By mid Chart year to the middle of the next chart year, Closer was undoubtedly #1.
brianc33710 Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 It looks like Sam Hunt will finish the year in the Top 10. Since AC always frustratingly waits until a song is done before actually noticing, that will slow down his fall. He should reach 2 million in sales, which is getting increasingly rare. With its consistent streaming strength along with unprecedented sales longevity, Back Road could reach 5XP. I can't see it getting to 2.5 M or 6XP though. If Taylor Swift came back with a Country song, then Country could have one more 2.5 M single. Die A Happy Man is up to around 1.9 M, so Rhett will eventually get to 2 M. I'm surprised it hasn't already done so, but it's been 3XP for quite a while. Maybe he'll get to 4XP. Had Nelly not covered Happy Man, Rhett would've had some success at Top 40.
templeloser Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 Looks like the gap between leading songs and the song falling behind are becoming larger and larger
