Yeah I agree with you. Like it coulda been Swae Lee's solo top 5 hit. French Montana's verses are forgettable unfortunately

Despacito isn't breaking the record, it's declining, unexpectedly fast too.

and Bailando was way better than Despacito, i think Despacito just got hit with lottery. There's nothing special about it. I doubt people will love it next year.

*Despacito got Justin Bieber, then it exploded on pop radio, then exploded on all metrics

I think Rake It Up has a chance to go viral and go #1. Imagine Nicki saving Mariah's record and getting her first #1. :deadbanana:

Yeah, but also, you should do not forget about Cardi B's Bodak Yellow... It has a chance to do it, as well, though...

Prediction:

1. Despacito 643 (-5.1%) *12th week at #1

Prediction:

Wild Thoughts has a chance if Despacito keeps falling at least 5% . But the record will probably get tied or broken.

11 678 (-3.6%)
12 643 (-5.1%)                         Wild Thougts 397

do despacito is declining pretty fast. it is losing around 30 points weekly. Wild Thoughts is losing like 5 points. pretty stable

                        Despacito               Wild Thoughts

13 week -           613                               390
14 week             594                               380-385
15 week             564                               ~370
16 week             534                               ~360
17 week             500                               ~350
18 week             470                               ~340

no matter how quick despacito will be losing, it will be still close to 450-500 points in tying week, and week after breaking.

even will Wild Thoughts will stay at 400 points every week, still no chance at #1. it need to rose high

Despacito isn't gonna just lose 30 points per week. (It's not THAT stable) otherwise it can possible be a 20 week #1. I'm sure once it peaks it will start to fall harder. I'd suggest a 40 point drop by week 14.

Really depends on whether Pop decides to take WT to the top or not for that stability/increase.

I still think it'll reach #1 tbh... Even if Despacito breaks the record.

The problem with Wild Thoughts it doesnt explode on streams or sales unless theres discount even with the rising airplay.

I mean Despacito is a very generic reggaeton song, it has been before, many many time, but for some reason this time it smashed.

Despacito isn't reggaeton lol. It's latin pop, nah?

Will 'Despacito' Break the 16-Week Record for a Billboard Hot 100 No. 1?

On the Billboard Hot 100 dated Aug. 5, the remix of Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's smash "Despacito," featuring pop megastar Justin Bieber, spends its 11th week at No. 1.

And with a Portugese remix of the song on its way Friday (July 28) to give the song some extra juice, it's already worth asking the question: Could "Despacito" be the song that finally matches the all-time record 16 weeks on top of the Hot 100, set in 1995-96 by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day"?

Quote

The thing that seems to set "Despacito" apart in this discussion, however -- aside from the song's unique global appeal, due to its bilingual construction and heavy cultural crossover, particularly on the Bieber remix -- is the apparent lack of a challenger lurking in the near-distance to overtake it. The most obvious challenger would appear to be "Wild Thoughts," the current No. 2 single from DJ Khaled, featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller. But, despite climbing to the runner-up spot from its No. 4 debut, the song is trending in the wrong direction: It dips this week by less than 1 percent in overall points; "Despacito" is down by 3 percent, so it maintains a healthy lead at No. 1.

If I just take the numbers from Billboard and my formula Despacito has a 1.72 lead over WT and not 1.73, but that's well within the margin for rounding errors as they only give us rounded numbers for everything. 1k sales rounded up or down is quite a lot actually.

Yeah a lot of twinks are getting into it it's rising everywhere YouTube Spotify iTunes and doing really good on AM out of nowhere. Some say it's a possible Top 10 even higher if it goes viral.
