I think Maroon 5 is the most successful Western act in SK chart-wise, but @Eternium mentioned the price change that happened around 2013, so I'm not sure if they did such through inflated sales. I would also assume BIG BANG covering "This Love" contributed much to Maroon 5's music becoming popular in SK. That cover, MLJ and their constant placement on FreeZone made them a smash there. They even had a #1 YE in 2015 with Sugar when free downloads never counted. And the most successful Western artists in South Korea are Mariah Carey and Britney. Britney’s sold over 1M albums there and Music Box, Mariah’s Best-seller, did 900k sales there.
