If they want shorter stays at #1 why don't they just put more weight on sales? I don't agree with either method, considering it's a chart that is supposed to reflect popularity, but at least that would make more sense.

But the fact that Despacito is still selling 2.27x as much as Wild Thoughts and ourstreaming it too shows that it's the more popular song and deserves to be #1 still.

The rule is dumb. They're basically suppressing popularity. A reverse warholian indeed :cm:

I think WT will snatch it, or the gap has narrowed?

UK mid

1 DJ Khaled feat. Rihanna & Bryson Tiller - Wild Thoughts (33,507)
2 Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee feat. Justin Bieber - Despacito (30,048)

3 French Montana feat. Swae Lee - Unforgettable (24,348)

only 3k difference :dancehall: and with today big sales increase (I expect also a big streaming increase too) there are basically no chances for WT

Wild Thoughts will be #1 next week, if not this week.

How will this rule affect songs that smash months after the release?

This is a mess. Labels agreed to it though but I think they will soon challenge it.

If not then, the U.K. songs chart is as reliable as Mediatraffic songs chart :ahh:

I *think* the 300:1 ratio can be reversed?

To me, if a song sees a sales increase when in the 300:1 period, it should go back to the 150:1 ratio until it has again 3 weeks of decreases. That's the only thing that can make a little sense of such a nonsensical rule.

So being #2 on sales and streaming is "no where near #1" now? :deadbanana3:

And yes there is a reason. She was unlucky. Work and TIWYCF were blocked respectively by the biggest and 2nd biggest song of 2016. SIT.

which songs blocked them? I don't really follow the uk charts

Do you know how much Kaleidoscope has sold? I know it can't chart due to the rules, but I guess it would debut at #1 otherwise.

Not much probably, it's only available digitally and only a few albums pull decent figures on iTunes UK for albums.

Definitely in the top3.

Hopefully, we get sales numbers or certifications at some point.

It's doing almost 20K in the USA and they are much bigger in the U.K.
