Mr Boots
btw the new rule doesn't prevent despacito from staying #1, it only makes it harder cause the streams are divided by 300 rather 150. if it had bigger streams, it could stay #1. and though i'm not a fan of the rule, happy for rih to return to her position

But it applying to songs at #1, and a song being virtually retired from #1 through rules is a serious mess.

Konril
The rule is stupid they're cutting of its chart point just because it stayed many number of weeks at #1? An additional adjustment will see the introduction of a new streaming ratio for older tracks which are well past their peak and in steep, prolonged decline. It's not the fault of the song when it's past its peak and it's doing better than other songs that are still climbing. Its called longevity. I can accept this rule when the song is in the lower chart positions but to put a handicap especially on the #1 song is just not right. One of the dumbest rule ever. Passle
It is beyond stupid that the #1 selling song and #1 streaming song isn't the #1 song overall. OCC is a joke.

That's why it's a chart You don't understand why they've made changes to the chart. People complained the chart didn't change enough, because it was too reflective of actual music tastes, where UK music listeners stream and buy the same songs over and over. So they've added a new rule that penalises songs that have charted for a long time already. So Despacito is the UK's most popular song at the moment. It's the most downloaded this week. It's the most streamed this week. But OCC's new rules will have it chart at #2 because it's being penalised artificially because it's been in the charts for months now. That's the joke. The #1 selling+streaming song isn't going to be #1 this week.

Mr Boots
the new rule doesn't affect #1 songs only. it affects all songs on the chart. once your song is 10 weeks old, and it decreases consecutively over the following 3 weeks, it's streaming point will be divided by 300 not 150. it'll happen to all songs
