Considering how huge Despacito is still is on every platform (call outs too), I don't see why radio would start dropping it (hard)

Its days are numbered either way :duca: a negative update is a sign that its on its way to decrease :duca:

Are you saying Playboi Carti looks threatening? :rip:

The fake blood and gunshots remind me of this video:

Welp, looks like Katy's Top 10 record is safe for now. Wouldn't put it past Despacito to snatch it tho, that song is just something else

So, you're thinking "Despacito" could spend over 69 consecutive weeks in the top 10? Sis, I mean, the song is huge, but... :toofunny2:

Exactly. He knows this, but wants to create "controversy" and hit threads. Look at how many threads about Despacito he's made in Base.

Thanks to the digital world, and especially streaming's explosion the "out of this world" smash has become so normal.

I remember Blurred Lines was so huge and record breaking and seemed like it'd be the biggest song of this decade; then we had Happy, then we had Uptown Funk, then we had Hello, then we had Shape of You and not even a year later we have Despacito.

[Not to mention One Dance, Love Yourself, Lean On, Can't Stop the Feeling, etc]

They're becoming the standards for smash hits, not outliers and extremely rare. A year later, we'll have another song that'll be absolutely huge and we'll be wondering if it'll be bigger than Despacito. Blurred Lines doesn't even seem like one of the Top 5 biggest hits of the last 5 years anymore.

Yeah. I like having only 8-9 #1s a year, but some of this excessive longevity seems so strange. Uptown Funk still seems like the biggest hit of the 2010s, based on its exceptional performance in every metric and receiving airplay at such a wide range of genres. As for Blurred Lines though, Thicke may not seem so big now because of losing the lawsuit against the Gaye family, and trying too hard very publicly trying to get his wife back after exploiting himself and embarrassing her (such as with Cyrus) at the VMAs a few years back. That's why BL had good chart longevity, but rarely receives any airplay now.

And don't forget about Somebody That I Used To Know, All About That Bass, Royals, Thrift Shop, and Call Me Maybe. I'm not so sure about Lean On. I think it was much bigger internationally than here in the US.
