Controversial but better than I expected (and for context I LOVE Miley and will undoubtedly see her live next time I can either tour or festival)

 

This song is not good. It's somehow both very basic in lyrics AND production while also not being commercial and doesn't even at least have a memorable hook. 
 

While I never expected Flowers to be what it became, it sounded basic in a very commercial way with a solid hook and it was obvious that'd be some level of hit. Same with Used to Be Young. 
 

This has Younger Now-era level writing and production (so, basic and amateur) but without the catchiness and somewhat unique POV that at least Malibu had. This sounds like a ChatGPT song in all aspects tbh. 
 

While I'm guessing this is the most commercial of all the songs since it's the lead, I'm hoping there's at least some quality (even if in a "weird" way like Dead Petz) among the album tracks. Bc if they're all this basic AND soulless then this album will be a total strikeout for me

 

But again, I know I just dragged tf out of her but it's only bc I know Miley is capable of so much more and I love her overall lol. I honestly think she needs better writing camps at the bare minimum because she's not the writer she thinks she is. She can't pull off the diaristic style a la Taylor/Lana/Lorde/SZA or even quirkiness like Ariana's but she also can't even pull off the insatiable earworm pop writing style. So the writing on her songs just often fall flat somewhere in the middle without succeeding in either category

 

Okay I'm done and I really do love her so I hope there's some gems on the album but yeah the fans shouldn't hold their breath for this to be a hit lol

And Miley stans were coming for Gaga when Gaga didn't even have a video for Disease or major promo on day one and it did 4M+ and debuted at #12. 

Even album track Garden of Eden debuted in the Top 10 with 4M+.

This is the 2nd time she's done this. She'll hit a career resurgence / enter a new imperial phase (Bangerz/Flowers) and then pivot to some left-leaning passion project off of the goodwill she's earned with the label. 

 

As someone who's loved Bangerz but has struggled with everything that has followed, I've accepted these kind of more freeform passion projects simply aren't for me.

Well to be fair, she has massive hits then the GP gets bored of her, then she does the passion projects. This song is commercial and designed for radio to be a hit. So if it flops, itll be her Younger Now era where people were just disengaged

Woman's World debuted when Spotify numbers were higher. They removed a month ago the apk accounts. So now the numbers are lower.
 

It's fairer to compare the positions in which both songs debuted. End of the World did better.

I'm a big Gaga fan, but this is unnecessary. Both are very talented artists with massive hits, no need to make these comparisons.

Mind you Katy had a radio deal with Woman's World and debuted with nearly 4x the audience. Yall need to realize TTH has much less impact than you think

Die with a Smile was doing like 10-11 mil end of last year for example daily. Something is going on with the platform / playlisting / algorithm or something. Plus there was just a bunch of news about a lot of streams getting thrown out for botting. So this actually isn't that bad for Miley. Hopefully she's going for a slow burn hit.
