I really, really like Chromatica and i don't get why it gets so much sh*t. Some people generally don't like her and will dunk on her (live every popstar), but the fandom is genuinely toxic in a way I dont think most pop girls fandom's are. People like to complain because they wanted an album exactly sounding like Mayhem in 2020 (darker, more ecclectic) and got a house album instead. Now they're complaining and they got what they wanted with Mayhem. It's always a lose-lose with obsessive Monsters and they don't get why she doesn't communicate like she used to with us.
qurl Posted Friday at 08:14 PM Posted Friday at 08:14 PM the irony considering Chromatica is/was only appreciated bc everyone was locked up during Covid and was happy to gobble down any new music regardless of how mid it was Mayhem is the better record; critics, GP, and even Gaga agrees. /thread! 5 1
LOTF Posted Friday at 08:15 PM Posted Friday at 08:15 PM I was ready after my first listen to Mayhem. They're not bad albums but Chromatica is superior. It's just that little monsters are plagued with bandwagoners who are desperate for the GP's fickle approval 1 1
Noodles Posted Friday at 08:16 PM Posted Friday at 08:16 PM Chromatica is soulless to me. You can really tell she made it during a tough time in her life and just wanted to get it over with. 7
leo-j Posted Friday at 08:19 PM Posted Friday at 08:19 PM Not when mayhem gave you the biggest song of the decade, and abracadabra. DWAS and abra alone are some of the best songs Gaga have in her disco. I love chromatica, but mayhem stomps. 2

jezebelvictoria Posted Friday at 08:20 PM Posted Friday at 08:20 PM This is just an attempt to get a hit thread right? Because 'MAYHEM' is Gaga's best album, period. Not a single low on the album while 'Chromatica' is Gaga's worst album with like 3 good songs on it.
BornUnbroken Posted Friday at 08:20 PM Posted Friday at 08:20 PM I love Chromatica more, but I get why more people are tuned in to Mayhem. Chromatica has no skips, personally. And I think the album flows a lot better from beginning to end. The Chromatica album photoshoot is also by far better than Mayhem's. Both still great albums though. 1
swiftawaywithme Posted Friday at 08:22 PM Posted Friday at 08:22 PM Mayhem is such a better record. The interpolations are strong, iconic, and nostalgic. The track listing is stunner after stunner with no disappointments. I like Chromatica but Mayhem is a much more solid album front to back.

Chromatica is good, but mainly Gaga on autopilot. It saw shimmers of potential and we got some classic Gaga with Rain On Me, 911, Replay & Babylon. However with MAYHEM you can feel the excitement in the tracks, the free will to do whatever they felt was right & more importantly you can feel Gaga throughout the whole project. MAYHEM is infinitely more interesting than Chromatica & I still really ******* love Chromatica, but she really outdid herself this time This
Oziee Posted Friday at 08:26 PM Posted Friday at 08:26 PM Music wise Mayhem is superior, I don't like the repetitive production on Chromatica, it made me stop listening to the album after a certain time. Visually, Stupid Love is abysmal but the album artwork of Chromatica is superior to Mayhem. Lastly, Mayhem has Abracadabra which stomps on every music video out of Chromatica and no, I don't like 911.
loveisdead9582 Posted Friday at 08:26 PM Posted Friday at 08:26 PM I think Chromatica is more consistent than Mayhem but Mayhem has higher highs. For me at least.
flower moon Posted Friday at 08:36 PM Posted Friday at 08:36 PM chromatica only has better visuals. thats it.
Peroxide Posted Friday at 08:37 PM Posted Friday at 08:37 PM Chromatica is fine but it's such a safe album for Gaga… the only obvious 10/10 highlight on that project is Rain On Me (at least for me). Songs like Stupid Love, Free Woman, Fun Tonight, Sour Candy, Plastic Doll, 1000 Doves just sound hollow coming from an artist like Gaga… most of those numbers could be Ava Max album cuts. They aren't bad but they don't really feel like Gaga songs. Chromatica was Gaga on auto-pilot , she was doing the kind of record she felt she had to make, and with Mayhem it's a completely different story… her passion for that project has radiating throughout the entire promo tour.
Jay07 Posted Friday at 08:38 PM Posted Friday at 08:38 PM Well no it doesn't stomp on it but the difference is not as huge as people would have you think. It's true that on paper a pure dance album would be more to my taste than a soccer mom reminiscing about the bands of her youth but BloodPop dropped the ball so hard with those Fisher Price beats, it's unbelievable. The concept and visuals for Chromatica are so much better than Mayhem but those royalty free loops are unacceptable. 1
NOW Posted Friday at 08:40 PM Posted Friday at 08:40 PM No, it only stomps on Joanne and the jazz covers albums if you count those as well.
AMIT Posted Friday at 08:44 PM Posted Friday at 08:44 PM Chromatica is such a generic mid ass album, if it were not for songs like 911 and Babylon any other pop girl could have released it. But those 2 songs alone are not enough to save it. I don't think it's bad, but it was just Gaga on autopilot and we deserve better. 1000 Doves and that Elton collab were just atrocious. It low key tanked for a reason. Mayhem, unlike Chrom, is filled with Gaga's usual quirks and personality. It finally sounded like something she wanted to release and believed in since ARTPOP. It manages to capture her artistic essence while pushing her sound in new directions meanwhile Chromatica was a retread outside of the contrived ''90's House'' attempt which still came out generic anyway. Just say you like Dance Pop and go, lol. 2
Shoful Posted Friday at 08:54 PM Posted Friday at 08:54 PM This is a joke right? Chromatica is filled with short ass songs. Bought tracks. Lazy writing. Horrible music videos. It's so damn generic. It's a fun record don't get me wrong but Mayhem is back to the quality of 2008-2013 Gaga 3
Aaron Posted Friday at 09:04 PM Posted Friday at 09:04 PM I honestly don't get how people feel this "passionate, vibrant" vibe from Mayhem. It lowkey feels as soulless and unimpressive as Chromatica, just with a few paint-by-numbers 'classic Gaga!' songs like Abracadabra thrown in this time. 2 2 5
yonsé Posted Friday at 09:04 PM Posted Friday at 09:04 PM mayhem washes chromatica and its NOT close. 1
Summer Boy Posted Friday at 09:08 PM Posted Friday at 09:08 PM Chromatica is great, but MAYHEM is definitely better.
anastaciabby Posted Friday at 09:08 PM Posted Friday at 09:08 PM Bffr and take those ugly pictures with you
