MermaidPrincess Posted yesterday at 05:19 AM Posted yesterday at 05:19 AM Lizzo shouldve just sat there and taken her Lipitor 2
Velvet Night Posted yesterday at 06:56 AM Posted yesterday at 06:56 AM Everyone is influenced by someone else. That's literally how art works. By this logic, literally every artist ever is an impersonator. 2
Mezter Posted yesterday at 07:03 AM Posted yesterday at 07:03 AM I wouldn't call her an impersonator but Idk why y'all get so mad when someone says Britney was inspired by Janet. Britney has said it herself countless times...
alexrex Posted yesterday at 07:10 AM Posted yesterday at 07:10 AM Well, that's a fact. But with not so very good vocals and music not as good as Janet's. 1 1 9
Titanbaddie Posted yesterday at 07:25 AM Posted yesterday at 07:25 AM (edited) I mean she's not wrong... Britney's entire performance style and image was very much heavily influenced by Janet Jackson. unrelated but related: So does that mean that Derrick Barry is a Coco Montrese impersonator? Edited yesterday at 07:36 AM by Titanbaddie 1 1
Robyn. Posted yesterday at 08:20 AM Posted yesterday at 08:20 AM This is a huge stretch. They have about nothing in common bar their performance styles... Britney started with bubblegum pop and a nasal voice... Janet's an R&B girlie with a whisper-ish voice. 4
Sabrina Carpenter Posted yesterday at 08:33 AM Posted yesterday at 08:33 AM Y'all give that nepo sibling too much credit 1 1 11
hallucinate Posted yesterday at 09:48 AM Posted yesterday at 09:48 AM britney is so much more than a "janet impersonator" the disrespect 3
ChooseyLover Posted yesterday at 01:03 PM Posted yesterday at 01:03 PM (edited) Why use the term impersonator? It implies Britney had nothing going on for her if she hadn't taken over Janet's brand and that's so far from the truth... Plus it's been 24 years since she was on her "Janet impersonator era" as in incorporating choreo and sound directly borrowed from her. She's released a lot of music that's not very reminiscent of her ever since. The single that blew her up (BOMT) wasn't even inspired by Janet. Also she's been very honest about this influence and to this day she dances to Janet's songs all the damn time. If you see her art and it takes you back to Janet I'd say that's pretty much a compliment. I'm sure Lizzo is also influenced by very great and legendary artists... too bad what she does is extremely below the artists she's inspired by to even be compared to them. But anyway, I'd like to watch the whole vid to see what's the point she was trying to make. Edited yesterday at 01:39 PM by ChooseyLover 2
FrederickGa Posted yesterday at 01:04 PM Posted yesterday at 01:04 PM not an impersonator, but clearly Janet's daughter
Tm4074 Posted yesterday at 01:14 PM Posted yesterday at 01:14 PM Loud and wrong but would like to see the full context bc this might not be shade. Either way rather be a Janet impersonator than a Meghan Trainor impersonator. 3
IBeMe Posted yesterday at 01:19 PM Posted yesterday at 01:19 PM that's really dumb lol. Being inspired by an artist and making it your own thing isnt the same as being an impersonator. Britney deff took inspo from lots of the popgirls before her but she managed to make it her own. That's how all artists create their artistic identity and persona. It's literally rare AF for an artist do have something completely original. It's usually an amalgamation of artists that inspire you and then you add your own unique flavor and Britney did exactly that....Lizzo is weird for this 4

Shimenawa Posted yesterday at 01:43 PM Posted yesterday at 01:43 PM (edited) How rude. Every artists have inspirations and Janet was a big one for Britney but that do not make her an impersonator Edited yesterday at 01:47 PM by Shimenawa 5
Tm4074 Posted yesterday at 01:48 PM Posted yesterday at 01:48 PM Full clip doesn't really change the context lol. Lizzo should have said "influence" and it would have been completely acceptable. Not her saying there were no such thing as a pop diva before Janet. Tina Turner? Cher? Diana Ross? Lizzo be so for real... 5
MattieB Posted yesterday at 02:00 PM Posted yesterday at 02:00 PM I wouldn't say Janet impression, but she was heavily inspired by her in the beginning, britney herself admitted that
UnusualBoy Posted yesterday at 02:02 PM Posted yesterday at 02:02 PM This hag… Britney was inspired by Janet in her dancing style during 1 era but their music and singing cannot be more different 1
Sabrina Carpenter Posted yesterday at 02:50 PM Posted yesterday at 02:50 PM 1 hour ago, Josh said: you stan Sabrina Carpenter yawn, quote me when you say something new because my notifs are filled that same retort 1 5
Mornings Posted yesterday at 02:57 PM Posted yesterday at 02:57 PM Why say anything at all. Britney is retired. But look her opinion is her opinion and I'm not about to argue 1
Rev8 Posted yesterday at 03:06 PM Posted yesterday at 03:06 PM How do negative Britney threads constantly get made, but positive are always left out Anyways, she just made another fanbase get on her ass ...WHILE she is flopping If she really sees Britney just as that, then that gives us enough of an insight on her IQ
easy HME Posted yesterday at 03:46 PM Posted yesterday at 03:46 PM Dancing wise maybe But that's where it stopps lol No one was inspired by Janet's forgotten music and whispering into mic for 50 years lmao 8

Or else I think she's dissing the pop stars that came before Janet while also trying to make a point throwing Britney specifically under the bus. So weird. Maybe she's a Madonna hater.
