Gossip_Boy Posted March 29 Posted March 29 I have to say that I actually agree with the general sentiment that artists should just do their job which is making music and entertain and leave it at that. Most of them are either uneducated, dumb or out of touch with the real world so I really don't want to hear their two cents anyway. This is the tricky part of diving into politics and/or presenting yourself a certain way in the first place. People are starting to have expectations. So if it no longer serves your career and you change your mind you should expect the backlash (this isn't about Chappell per se, just a general thought). 3
VelvetCrush Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Sorry but twitter will never make me hate Chappell by taking the stuff she says out of context 4
shinyshimmery Posted March 29 Posted March 29 (edited) She reminds me sooo much of this one lesbean girl I met in group therapy. She made herself a martyr... how does that one song by Taylor go "I stare directly at the sun, but never in the mirror"... that applies to Chappell. Anyway, I still bop to her music... but she is so loud and wrong. Once her fame cycle stops and she matures a bit, she's gonna cringe so hard at these interviews. Edited March 29 by shinyshimmery 3
Morissette Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Imagine listening to an entire podcast with this annoying woman. You couldn't pay me. 4
Princess Aurora Posted March 29 Posted March 29 (edited) Does she know she's part of the ''DEI'' that the current regime administration is targeting right now? Edited March 29 by Princess Aurora
LostInStereo100 Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Love this woman. She really gets people WORKED up The Giver ain't it, but I can see why she released it. Still patiently waiting almost 13 months for the Subway
dumbsparce Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Crazy how someone talks common sense and the internet loses their ****
UnusualBoy Posted March 29 Posted March 29 I feel like X is basically looking for any reason to drag her comments even when there's nothing wrong with them.
DAP Posted March 29 Posted March 29 I'll take her "shaky activism" over the fake ass self-indulgent philanthropy that most celebrities do. 1
qurl Posted March 29 Posted March 29 (edited) two problems here: • everyone .. EVERYONE .. should stop looking to pop stars for political takes. just enjoy the music and stop holding these people to standards that most anyone is incapable of keeping consistent with all the time. no one's perfect, you should not expect it from yourselves nor pop artists. it's okay to have the wrong take sometimes so long as you're committed to learning and not being complacent with what you think / know about the world. one of the most toxic things you can be in today's culture is someone who thinks their ideas trump everyone else's and that you know better than anyone that thinks differently. we stopped listening to one another in the course of our world's history (even before i was born) and that's why everything is so politically fraught and divided. • Chappell seems like she has a really hard time articulating herself. she wasn't wrong to voice her discomfort with supporting the democrats when they were objectively silent (for the most part) on the genocide in Palestine. but even in that video you can tell she's flustered and can't get her words out right. unfortunately for her, she should have realized that in 2024 , regardless of everything i said above, pop stars are still held to an impossible standard of having to be perfect celebrities with stances that align with where the bulk of their fanbases are at (in her case, very much left). there's no way for her, or anyone really, to win if she speaks or if she stays silent. i feel for her, but at the same time i do wish she and just about everyone else in the business of celebrity would just focus on being entertainers. if some of your art is innately political, let that speak for itself ! but doing interviews or making tiktoks where you're having to explain where you stand politically … someone will always be able to find a problem with it, no matter how wrong or right you are Edited March 29 by qurl
computer.boy Posted March 29 Posted March 29 She's always been obnoxious, at least her music is good.
midnightdawn Posted March 29 Posted March 29 4 hours ago, Popboi. said: She needs better PR training cause her points are almost always valid, but the way she makes them is turning people off or finding her annoying. Which isn't really her fault as all this stardom came almost overnight for her, she wasn't prepared. True but she didn't need to do all the interviews that keep getting her in trouble with outlets like The Guardian, Call Her Daddy etc that are going to delve into the issues of the day. Especially when she is bordering on being over-exposed.

Démodé Posted March 29 Posted March 29 2 hours ago, anastaciabby said: Why can't anyone have an ounce of criticism for her on here? There's more posts saying "y'all do the most" than actual negative opinions. Rich Celebrities aren't children The criticism is that she may face difficulties in articulating herself. "y'all do the most" is prevalent here because there's a wave of "viral" lashings on her for saying correct things. I'll criticise what she says when I think she says BS, until then, y'all really do the most. 1

Losing my ground Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Her interviews and overall behavior is the worst, she should stick to just releasing music (excluding country). 1
GipJo Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Her saying she is too busy as a pop star to stay politically informed is crazy tho. This is just so wrong. 6

Like two rocks rattling around a tin can Tik Tok brain dumb. I had the same thought. I'm just surprised by how inarticulate, flippant, and immature she sounds. I kind of assumed she had a different personality due to her songs, being in her late 20s and people hyping her as this thinking person's popstar, but yeah, she doesn't seem different from Addison Rae. NoOneDiesFromLove Posted March 30 Posted March 30 It's disappointing how self involved she is with her politics
Jay07 Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Wbk she was ignorant but that didn't stop her running her mouth in the last elections. 1
