Especially those who have other responsibilities outside work. I've heard so many uninformed takes from my coworkers on politics. A lot of minorities voted against their best interests for trump in this last election cycle. The only minority that didn't were African Americans. lmao, it's 2025 and there's still people thinking African Americans aren't voting against their interests with their fierce loyalty to right-wing Dems. (and not African-Americans in general. just the ones who turn out to vote. the African-American comm has one of the highest abstention rates in the country) 3 1
UnRayuki Posted March 29 Posted March 29 She's literally 100% right, nobody should look for political guidance on Popstar or any other entertainer. Popstars of course, can have their opinion and be vocal about it, but Popstars political views are not something people should expect or give more importance than any other people's political views/opinions. 3
Almighty Gaga Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Not her naming exhausting activities, and saying eat (twice) and sleep celebs really think they have the hardest jobs in the world 4

Gui Blackout Posted March 29 Posted March 29 She just needs to stop doing interviews, there's not one that hasn't backfired on her somehow

It's just funny that a progressive like her is lining up to work with someone who endorses racists like Hailey Bieber or Trisha Paytas
DorothyVallens Posted March 29 Posted March 29 What she said is perfectly fine... I mean she can express her views, what she stands for, what she believes in, but she's a musician, we shouldn't expect her to be a beacon of political stances. That's what politicians are voted and paid for, it's not her job. Yet she's one of the most outspoken popgirls, so I think she's even more entitled to say things like this 1

Shinkirou Posted March 29 Posted March 29 I don't see anything wrong with this. I try to be politically educated to a responsible extent but would I want other people to look at me for political insight? No. If I were a popstar and had a platform regardless of me wanting to have one, then I would feel the responsibility to speak up on the issues that I feel certain about and keep quiet on those that I don't, and I feel like she's done that. 1

Pavement Princess Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Yeah, she's "right" but she's also not the right messenger given SHE is the one who has positioned herself as someone who wants to have a political opinion lmao. 8 1
TheFireLexus Posted March 29 Posted March 29 I'm glad she knows and I hope she'll remember this the next time she's tempted to share her own "political answer". 4 1
Axolotl Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Imagine giving other artists a hard time for not speaking about politics and then giving this idiot a pass. 4 2

Let me rephrase: she was giving them a platform and that should be enough to warrant criticism, like how she let Jamie Lynn peddle lies about her relationship with Britney during the height of the conservatorship.
Popular Post konaa Posted March 29 Popular Post Posted March 29 Don't really care about her politics, she just seems deeply dumb. Like two rocks rattling around a tin can Tik Tok brain dumb. 18 2

Admitting you think people can't hold a political view without inherently wanting to be a political authority kind of proves her point. 2

Scabandplaster Posted March 29 Posted March 29 She is kinda right but I wish she said it in a better way... it comes across so... idk grating I'm not sure. Maybe I am the problem.
ATRL Moderator Bloo Posted March 29 ATRL Moderator Posted March 29 The Chappell hate is so forced. Nothing she said was shaky or ill-informed. People that look to celebrities for political guidance (e.g., the people hoping and praying for a Taylor Swift endorsement hoping it’ll secure an electoral win) need to wake up. She’s allowed to speak up for the existence of trans people, queer people, and perform music celebrating queer joy without being a full-time and fully-informed political activist (which amounts to a full-time job in its own right). 3 6
