Sorry but these people don't live in the real world, a lot of people who work 40 hour weeks don't pay attention to politics. Especially those who have other responsibilities outside work. I've heard so many uninformed takes from my coworkers on politics. A lot of minorities voted against their best interests for trump in this last election cycle. The only minority that didn't were African Americans.

It's embarrassing for her to even be on this podcast in the first place, and says a lot that she said yes to it

her actions and words just never match up

Right I was looking at that tweet dragging her with that take and was like…most people who work 9-5's actually don't pay attention or have the time to pay attention either :rip: And especially if we add other responsibilities like kids into the mix.

Also it really sends me how Twitter acts like these artists don't work hard and often times work much longer hours than the average person as well. Of course they get paid more (whether that money goes to them or funneled back to the label depends on the artist) but to pretend like they just do nothing but get paid to be famous is just dumb. Unless you're a Taylor, Rihanna, Beyoncé, Gaga, etc. you're not just getting thrown millions of dollars.

But anyway she desperately needs PR course.

"I wish the president was a pop star, but she's not"

Why did that remind me of "The last thing the world needs is another beauty brand, but that's too bad" :toofunny2:

I understand what she's saying but the critical way forward is to be informed. Do your research on queer history, do your research on how current political administrations are having a negative impact on minority groups like people of colour, women, queer people, immigrants etc. and learn about it. This vaguely reminds me of when she did speak on politics pre-election and got dragged for talking about potentially voting third-party. And off the back of that people thought she was pro-Trump. :skull: And look, I equally respect what she's saying about wondering why people are asking her politically fuelled questions. And she doesn't owe answers about her political stance on things etc. but the reason people want to know is because as a queer woman in music she has a lot of people looking up to her.

I think we all can agree the world is a weird, dark and frustrating place at the moment, but the answer to change isn't to exclude yourself from a conversation because you're not informed enough. Get informed and use your voice. And I don't just mean that to be directed to her, I think we can all heed that advice.

I don't get why her stating she's not all-knowing and she's overwhelmed is shaky activism? :deadbanana4:

I think she's saying that she can have opinions/political opinions but YOU shouldn't be looking to her for answers

Hope this helps

Y'all do the most on her. She literally is saying she's just a pop star who doesn't know everything, so her opinion shouldn't carry more weight than anyone else's.

Now get back in the studio Kaylee because that Shania Twain reject you just released is not cutting it

exactly. Her image and brand is built on top of the queer community therefore it's her duty to be educated on it as folks will look to her to understand it. If her success and profit comes from it, its a more than fair expectation.
