Strawberry Bubble Posted February 22 Posted February 22 (edited) Enough time has passed, and we've seen two massive pop peaks of the 2020s: Olivia Rodrigo with Sour and Sabrina Carpenter with Short N' Sweet. Espresso, Please Please Please, and Taste were global hits—just as drivers license, good 4 u, and deja vu. So, who do you think reached the highest peak in popularity and commercial success? BlossomSoul Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Olivia. Commercially Sabrina almost outdid her. Culturally Espresso got close but License was EVERYWHERE 1
Popular Post thatsmydemi Posted February 22 Popular Post Posted February 22 (edited) Olivia stormed the world out of nowhere. I've never witnessed anything like that before. Edited February 22 by thatsmydemi 33 1 2 9

Culturally Espresso got close but License was EVERYWHERE I'd say that Espresso is bigger globally than Drivers License and Good 4 U, but overall, Sour was the bigger album compared to Short N' Sweet 6 2
Popular Post DanyelP23 Posted February 22 Popular Post Posted February 22 Olivia really felt like she came out of nowhere and STOMPED (she didn't come out of nowhere, but most people were unaware) Sabrina's been waiting backstage in the Khia Asylum for a while before she blew up, and she even waved at the GP a bit with Nonsense and Feather, so her commercial success didn't feel as shocking, and was more or less taken for granted. 25
Popular Post JoJo Posted February 22 Popular Post Posted February 22 Olivia. She became a MPG overnight. Sabrina's big, but she also had more competition (Chappell, Charli, and Billie), so she didn't culturally dominate 2024 like Olivia dominated 2021. 22
Popular Post k4rmabutterfly Posted February 22 Popular Post Posted February 22 SOUR is definitely bigger than SNS, but as a celebrity Sabrina felt more relevant in 2024 than Olivia in 2021. I think Sabrina has a bigger appeal with older audiences, Olivia as a celebrity is only relevant to Gen-Z / Alpha. 37 2

Dialamba Posted February 22 Posted February 22 All tracks on sour are literally smash hits. You can argue that expresso is bigger than DL/GFY but that's it SNS wasn't even the biggest album of the year 12
Taylor fanboy Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Sabrina was part of the lore and culture of Olivia's peak though. 9 3 1
vuelve88 Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Olivia. But Sabrina really took advantage of this hit era, from the Christmas special to the music video with Jenna Ortega to the collab with Dolly, plus performing everywhere.
Melancholy Posted February 22 Posted February 22 espresso way bigger than any Olivia song - can't sing you a line from Driver's License even if I had a gun to my head 2 4 10 3
heckinglovato Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Olivia's debut is the most streamed female album of all time let's be forreal now 12 2

Sad Serenade Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Olivia. She came from nowhere, DL was a storm coming from nothing and Sour one of the biggest female album of all time. Sabrina's peak huge too but what Olivia's achieved is pretty unmatchable. 12
Popular Post Loca Posted February 22 Popular Post Posted February 22 The one who was so successful that she ended up getting sued by other thirsty "artists" 1 36
Cain Posted February 22 Posted February 22 It feels like Sabrina's era is bigger than Olivia's to me tbh (her celebrity is bigger, Espresso is bigger, her tour is bigger) 9
yekim Posted February 22 Posted February 22 i think an argument can be made that Espresso is bigger culturally/commercially than any of the tracks on SOUR... but SOUR as an album is definitely much more recognizable than Short 'n Sweet. the deeper cuts of SOUR are all recognizable, moderate hits whereas Short 'n Sweet deep cuts ("Coincidence", "Dumb & Poetic", "Lie To Girls", etc.) are not very known or recognizable. 8
Solaria Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Olivia had her DEBUT single Debut at No.1 and Sour is the most streamed female album of all time. It's Liv with ease.
Johnathon Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Musically Olivia but in terms of culture it feels like Sabrina. Like Sabrina has been the big pop girl in terms of branding, appearances etc. Olivia didn't really feel like she had that 1
Rev8 Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Olivia had singles And albums (while Sabrina was more singles) Sabrina is more interesting than Olivia imo, and most will probably say that she might have a higher chance of lasting longer offtopic but.. u could say that even Sabrina benefited from Olivia (since she was part of the whole DL story) it's also funny that Sabrina's blow-up era is where there is another drama with other popular people (Camila and Shawn) surprised she hasn't been deemed a homewrecker like how easily Ariana was called one 2
