Popular Post Nefertiti0 Posted Thursday at 08:15 PM Popular Post Posted Thursday at 08:15 PM (edited) The FireAid benefit concert will be held at Intuit Dome and Kia Forum on January 30th dedicated to rebuilding communities that have been devastated by wildfires. Contributions made to FireAid in connection with the FireAid benefit concert and other direct donations will be distributed under the advisement of the Annenberg Foundation and will be distributed for short-term relief efforts and long-term initiatives to prevent future fire disasters throughout Southern California. The Annenberg Foundation, with decades of philanthropic leadership in our community, including rapid response, will help coordinate a team to direct funds for the greatest impact. https://fireaidla.org/ Edited 12 hours ago by Nefertiti0 25

byzantium Posted Thursday at 08:36 PM Posted Thursday at 08:36 PM I'm glad they are helping out, but do we really need a donation drive here? Disasters happen all the time and it kind of feels like this one is getting special treatment because it affected people with higher incomes. 5 12

It gets special treatment because it's in the US and a lot of these organizers and celebrities are American so for them it hits closer to home. But the fires are not just affecting rich people, lots of income levels are affected. We only hear about the rich celebrities homes. 11

Well if you had watched the concert special you would've seen this being mentioned in between most performances - here's a clip of her talking about this on Fallon, and then facetiming Tim Cook to shake his wallet - timestamped to the relevant part. Hector Posted Thursday at 08:50 PM Posted Thursday at 08:50 PM Joni, P!nk, Stevie, and Gwen In spite of the horrible circumstances, I hope this concert is done well like Live Aid in the eighties and Live 8 in the 2000s. 3 1
stochastic Posted Thursday at 08:52 PM Posted Thursday at 08:52 PM It'll be great as a morale booster but they need to send some invoices to billionaires like the evil Resnicks

There were those hurricanes that hit Florida last fall. The one that hit Puerto Rico in 2018 was exceptionally bad. The winter storms of 2021 were the deadliest disaster of the 2020s so far, and then there were the fires in Maui last year. People should of course be helping in all of these circumstances, but it's interesting that all these celebrities get involved for the disaster that hit Malibu. 2
