Crystal Baller: 10 Music Business Predictions About How the Industry Will Shake Out in 2025

Quote

At least one major star will go all-in on Trump — and many fans won't care

As Trump prepares to take office, the resistance is losing its persistence — especially in the media business. Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger signed off on subsidiary ABC's settlement with Trump, and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that the company would prioritize free speech, in a way that looks like he kissed Trump's ring. Before 2026, at least one major pop star will follow, either out of genuine enthusiasm or just because it's easier. The expected outrage will not materialize.

Which major music star(s) do you think will publicly come out as a Trump supporter this year?

Katy, she's already halfway there. Her recent appearance on Drag Race made her look like she was holding herself back from hurtling slurs towards the queens.

Misogynistics will say it's a woman, when in reality it's probably a man. Like usual, they're the most soulless and pathetic.

If "many fans won't care", then it's probably someone who is leaning that way already, so it's not a surprise, or a male artist, as their fans don't tend to moralise (or pretend to) like fans of female popstars.

Same here. It would be very on brand considering how incoherent she comes across. Supporting Trump and his anti-trans agenda after a Kim Petras collab would be very Katy coded.

She hasn't pronounced herself politically since forever and she doesn't care about her own country to be opinionated like that. She's all about Mexico lately. :toofunny2:

Ding ding. It's obvi Post Malone. He fits that crunchy-to-right-wing pipeline so well. :rip:

Anyone saying female popstars... are y'all missing the "fans won't care" part?
