Multiple wildfires in Los Angeles

Can we debunk this? The fire budget increased by $50 million year-over-year according to a Politico article. To be honest, as much as Bass is criticized, I would rather have her than Caruso.

Yep, I know LA is not perfect but Caruso was the same old trickle down economics that has proven since Reagan to not be effective or work esp in a place where there's already such stark wealth inequality.

I wish in this country we taught politics in school, people screaming about budget cuts and don't even know what they're talking about, misinformed

as usual.

My heart goes out to everyone impacted by these fires. It's just such a sad and unfortunate situation all around.

This info's readily available but if you're looking for percentages they're all over the place

What a horrible year this has been so far and we're only a week and two days in. Here I was optimistic that 2025 couldn't possibly be worse than 2024.

In addition to the mayor, the LAFD is run by clowns it seems.

No wonder they're in the position they're in :deadbanana4:

This is absolutely true. You can't just say you had stuff. You have to prove that it was in your possession.

Shocking to see all the destruction. I've played tennis in Pacific Palisades and hiked in Altadena. And also Lahaina, Hawaii before their horrible fire. People put their hearts and time into those beautiful places that were wiped out in just a few hours. And it is not like global warming will magically stop or even slow down. Pick your disaster I guess... In NYC water is a huge looming problem, and subways get flooded constantly after a rainstorm. Chicago seems like the safest big metropolis with a higher elevation, a calm lake, no earthquakes or hurricanes, but it is also getting drier and hotter in summer.

We have been burning fossil fuels that took millions of years to be created, but burned in just a century. Global warming is a delayed process, and even if we stop releasing all these extra gases, it will keep getting warmer and ice will keep on melting. Buckle up for this century :dancehall3:
