He'll likely do similar to Dawn FM.

The weeknd fell kinda hard in the last couple of years.

IFPI global artist of the year:

2020: The Weeknd #4

2021: The Weeknd #6

2022: The Weeknd #5

2023: The Weeknd #5

?

OT: It will perform like Dawn FM at worst, so still a success. Timeless is already a bigger hit than anything from Dawn

Idt Republic will let him flop. He will do six digits first week.

I love Timeless :katie2: It will do better than the last one

everything went wrong when he released in your eyes instead of save your years

syt was released way too close to dawn fm so no one cared about the album

that idol soundtrack should've been an album, popular and one of your girls are a nice change from the 80s type beats

the way he became what I hate about Bruno

I feel like some of his cultural capital was burned on The Idol? I guess we'll never know how much, but he definitely lost some cool with the internet tastemakers in that process. Timeless is putting up decent streaming figures (which I think is, at least in part, due to Carti) but as far as anyone in the GP not paying attention is concerned, it might as well be from the same album as Popular or Die For You given how little buzz I've seen tuned in for Hurry.

I guess we'll just have to see, and the tour will almost certainly be successful, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was the end of his stint as a front-line hitmaker as he transitions into more of a legacy act.

just goes to show how disposable these popstars are, and how quickly the industry will move on

same thing will happen to Sabrina.

Pop girls have longer lasting power than pop boys. Sabrina will be just fine.

Well since Blinding Lights it's been the same 80's synth sounding songs for almost 5 years now. Don't know what happen? He used to be a chameleon.

Whats crazy is there was so much hype built for São Paulo and it didn't even touch the Hot 100….

I think the GP is just tired of the same thing. There's no artistry going on, no growth. He has a dedicated fanbase that's keeping him around but he's definitely past his peak.

Boy is making hits since 10 years ago, has more longevity than Katy, Gaga and more.

You all love to erase the career of artists that had their peaks in the pandemic :rip:

i think it'll do ok, timeless seems to be doing well so he'll have another hit up his sleeve before the name change

Be for real, it's a The Weeknd album, he's not going to tank

I have been waiting for a release date :thing: I am a fan and I didn't even know it's coming out. His IG has zero mention of a release date, I am so annoyed at this release.

Isn't this his last album as the The Weeknd persona? Kinda weird the lack of promo and singles.

Are the songs on the album going to be the ones that he performed live all those months ago? If yes I would not worry, they are really really good (touch my heart & run away especially) so even if he doesn't open high he will probably have good longevity.

Where is he in 2024 tho. What happened to his latest album and last lead single?

He's not doing as well as before. It's a, fact

His case is really interesting because despite his latest album "underperforming" (compared to After Hours), he's still an A-list pop boy, his music is still huge and his catalog keeps pulling big streaming daily numbers. I guess it'll be the same for his new album...

Gaga should save him as she did for Bruno.

The IFPI report is not available yet, it will be in a few months.
Anyway One Of The Girls (8th most streamed song of the year) and Popular both kept smashing during 2024, not to mention Starboy was the 10th most streamed album of the year. Recurrent streams from all of his projects are insane and second only to Taylor.

He keeps being one of the most successful artists and this is actually a fact :)

Sorry but his last good album was "Starboy". Since then he became a numbers chaser...
