Darkling Posted Saturday at 10:22 AM Posted Saturday at 10:22 AM So Close Your Eyes (the Project 7 group) did their first performance in the GDA and it seems like they did good for the people worrying about who was gonna sing I'm happy they performed Time After Time it was the best song from the survival, if this is gonna be their kind of songs and aesthetics and if Frants keeps giving them these bangers I predict a good future for them

I have no idea if this was aimed at me, but I'm guessing it was so I'll bite Spoiler The way you're still trying Anyways, let's compare aespa streams in their 4th year (2024) vs SKZ's 4h year (2022): aespa's pulled 1,703B Spotify streams in 2024 SKZ pulled 1,717B Spotify streams in 2022 They practically pulled the same numbers with SKZ having a little bit more, however aespa's 2024 numbers still couldn't surpass SKZ's numbers in 2022, despite Spotify being bigger for Kpop acts in 2024 than it was in 2022. SKZ by the end of 2022 had 3,7B total Spotify streams since debut aespa by the end of 2024 had 3,4B total streams since debut, which is still less than SKZ. ------------------ It's also a known fact that SKZ had a slow start, and it wasn't really until 2020 that they became very popular. Like SKZ literally performed better in 2020 than 2018-2019 combined for example. So trying to compare the first years of each group would't really reflect anything, cause you could literally remove the first 2 years of SKZ's career, and it would barely have an influence on their overall numbers. -------------------------- Btw, even if SKZ hadn't released music in 2024, they still would have outstreamed aespa with their back catalog alone. SKZ's back catalog pulled in 2.1B streams in 2024, while aespa, including their 2024 releases, pulled 1.7B streams. Anyways this whole thing started because of you randomly making claims about aespa being bigger on streaming than SKZ out of nowhere. Though I don't wanna take away aespa's achievements either, since they are actually doing good on streaming right now and broke the SM streaming curse Edited Saturday at 11:14 AM by Pluto6 1

Also don't know why so many groups are flopping hard like IVE, itzy, gidle, stayc despite being invincible at the start Also what happened to Billie, everglow, nmixx etc. all those groups were like pretty popular and now they faded into super irrelevancy. I wouldn't say IVE and Gidle are flopping "hard" though? They're still getting #1s even though there is a slight decline from their previous eras. The others….yeah you're right.
Antisocialites Posted Saturday at 01:11 PM Posted Saturday at 01:11 PM this thread always does the same and treats top 10 hits as massive flops. IVE's HEYA peaked at #2 on MelOn and Circle Digital... how is that a hard flop? 7

Though I don't wanna take away aespa's achievements either, since they are actually doing good on streaming right now and broke the SM streaming curse You started this argument months ago. I told you I'd finish it and I stuck to my word. As Aespa keeps outperforming SKZ, I'll keep reminding you. I have no actual ill will towards SKZ or you (even though I enjoy a good drag every now and again), but I do like number analysis. As far as your argument that SKZ's 4th calendar year (2022) outstreamed Aespa's 4th calendar year (2024), that's a daft argument. SKZ debuted on January 8th, 2018 and Aespa debuted on November 17th, 2020 which gives SKZ over 10 months of an advantage on Aespa for calendar year comparisons. SKZ had 7 minis, 2 full albums, a repackage, a special single album, a pre-debut mixtape, 2 Japanese mini albums, a Japanese single and a Japanese best album by the end of 2022. Aespa had 1 full album, 5 mini albums and 1 Japanese single by the end of 2024. Aespa achieved way more with less. And the argument that you could drop SKZ's first two years and it wouldn't take away much doesn't bode well for claiming SKZ is so much more successful. It makes them look worse when you compare them to Aespa as they performed similarly on Spotify within their first two calendar years despite Aespa getting just two mini albums and two digital singles as title tracks. 2 hours ago, Antisocialites said: same with NJ's How Sweet, peaked at #2 on MelOn and Circle Digital. that's just another great hit. The girls in this thread have literally no idea about any receipts and they get their opinions based on what a Twitter user tells them from the song's first release day. "How Sweet" will be #9 on Gaon's year end and "Heya" should be in the Top 20. NJ were the #1 girl group for digitals and album sales of 2024 and IVE was #3 for digitals (with 1 comeback) and I believe #5 or #6 for sales (again, with just 1 comeback). This thread needs to start thinking more about profitability than just chart positions if they want to understand why certain groups are successful. 1
muddysquirrel Posted Saturday at 04:36 PM Posted Saturday at 04:36 PM So NJ is done with ADOR-based stuff? I read starting from tomorrow you can expect major media play? Looking forward to it. I think its gonna take an huge effort from Hybe. NJ is still majorly loved around Korea and Japan.
