I remember he went on one because of his weight but didn't think it would last this long I do remember he had some scandal where he doxxed some random fan or something? I think ever since the public just don't like him the same in Korea

I don't think it's just that incident. Lately some K-netz have been questioning his ethnicity so he's also getting more vicious comments due to that. Like I said, I think people should just cut him some slack. He has been sick and recovering. People made similar comments to WENDY when she returned from her accident hiatus, about her appearance etc and it just seems inappropriate or too harsh imo 2

The fact that, he also said that he never said anything about his ethnicity, but they are trying to find out which side he identifies with the most, I've seen some long think piece back in the days on him with Han dynasty from China & Korea. Asking themselves which part he's in. 1

The real issue is the drop in global sales, particularly from China. In 2022-2023, we saw over 20 different groups selling at least 1 million albums. In terms of global streaming, nowadays, most groups can't even debut their songs on Global Spotify. For example, even NMIXX managed to debut on Global Spotify in 2022, but the chart was also weaker back then, where you just needed like 700K to chart. As Spotify continues to grow each year, many K-pop acts haven't been able to increase their streaming numbers at the same pace, which is why they're struggling to chart now. Now you have to have at least 1,3M filtered streams to debut on the said chart. As you mentioned, a handful of K-pop groups are at their peak right now, but outside of them, the average K-pop group isn't as globally popular as they were just 2-3 years ago. This could mean anything cause Minho's tour was preliminary booked under SHINee which is why people SHINee was scheduled to have a tour in 2024. (But then again there was really a comeback scheduled for SHINee in 2024 and even a concert, revealed by Onew new label, which is why his album was so late, it's the war between SM & BPM that keeps pushing back their comeback) 1
