Bewitched Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago I understand that the KSH Saeron scandal has triggered Sulli's brother but I really do hope he just sticks to defending Sulli without bringing up other ppl.

Kurt Hummel Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago I wish K-Pop events were their own threads. Sad when I click on a thread for sl*tty waist and then I end up in a 500-page megathread 3
Rainy Devil Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago You can tell that Taeyeon knew she had to prove the group could still go on after the Jessica exit because she went on that stage for the Tokyo Dome special and perform like she hasn't in years prior. 2

Maybe English isn't your first language but if it is, damn, you're illiterate. I spoke on organic success. SNSD was the first K-pop group to have a large presence in the West and ended up popularizing the channels we use now to distribute albums. The only reason forums like these have K-pop sections is because Western fans were drawn to SNSD. Psy had a viral moment and a follow-up frontloaded hit, but failed to maintain momentum or create a fanbase. His song was big, but he wasn't. BP had YG paying for video views to make them large and BTS has been exposed by their own company for using payola, album buybacks and paid-for viral marketing to establish their careers. This is not the same thing as launching an organic career.

He had to talk, because people are bringing Sulli, IU & Go Hara in this. And most of the people are making a huge controversy/whitch hunt against IU... IU is literally receiving more lashing than Kim Soo Hyun in some forums in Korea... Heck even Cha Eun Woo is getting more lashing than Kim Soo Hyun, because he wasn't at her burial (he was in an oversea gig).

The minute you started with "Maybe English isn't your first language" I knew you had no real argument, just weak insults to cover the fact that your take is crumbling I genuinely don't understand how the Scones in here aren't dragging you for that unhinged take and setting SNSD up: "SNSD is the only K-pop act to ever find organic success in the West" Like be serious SNSD did not have a "large presence" in the West. They had attempts, "The Boys" was their English push, and it barely scratched the surface. They weren't charting Billboard or any Western country, selling out tours in the U.S., or getting invited to major Western award shows. Being early doesn't mean being impactful. A niche following on Myspace and a couple of K-pop fansites doesn't equate to "organic success" in the West. SNSD weren't even the most popular 2nd gen group or SM act in the West. SNSD were undoubtedly popular in their time, but when it comes to global reach outside of Asia, they simply don't measure up to the groups that came after them, just like most of the 2nd gen, and that's okay. You don't need to make up lies and rewrite history. This SM cult bubble some of y'all live in is honestly exhausting to witness. You say the wildest things with full confidence, like people outside of this forum wouldn't absolutely roast you for these delusional, nostalgia-fueled takes. Some of you really don't know a damn thing about what was or wasn't actually popular. But then I'm the bad guy for pointing it out? For daring to tell you to let go of this fantasy and face reality? Please. Edited 14 hours ago by Pluto6 1

Please. Wasting the forum's bandwidth for this take Didn't even bother reading everything because I'm not wasting more time on you. You're a post 2020 K-pop fan who thinks TWICE started K-pop. I became a fan in 2003 and watched the global infrastructure for K-pop support and online media presence grow in response to SNSD's popularity here. Are you even from the West? Do you know what it was like buying K-pop albums before 2009 here? And who the **** do you think was bigger than SNSD in 2nd generation when they had 0 competition? And obviously the third generation grew after the second generation. That is literally SNSD's legacy. Obviously all of our faves have an easier time thanks to second generation paving the way. What I said is that SNSD are one of very few artists to find organic success (something even the biggest acts of today couldn't find without help from their record labels) and SM still flushed them down the toilet because they didn't want Jessica to start her own business. 7 minutes ago, newaespa said: .... anyways aespa 4th gen leader You're going to give him another meltdown in SYG. JO1s Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago (edited) 2NE1 had way more organic success in the west than snsd… bigbang too and i hate them. Blackpink and bts rode their coattails lowkey but they did end up making it bigger SNSD were #1 or 2 in Korea #2 in Japan and #3 in the west among mid to late 2nd gen groups Edited 14 hours ago by JO1s 1

But SNSD were so massive that they made MSG a thing for K-pop acts and most of the major distribution channels came about because we were importing their albums. In the end, YG and SM squandered SNSD and 2NE1's touring potential here but they're primarily the two artists responsible for making the West viable (though Big Bang and TVXQ helped). SNSD were #1 in Korea, #2 in Japan and #1 in the West.

Xalric Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago The way BEP is pushing her. She's the only one with the backup dancers too. Watching all their tiktoks you'd think it's her solo debut.
