  1. 1. Is Gaga’s power as a solo hit maker still there, before the decade ends?

The GP apparently respects Lady Gaga but they let Joker 2 go to shambles and let Disease go to waste.

:soda:

Does someone with a Madonna avi really want to venture into a conversation about respectability when it comes to movies? :deadbanana:

OT: OGHs had to invent a new metric (solo hits) in order to downplay Gaga's success. It's a metric completely removed from reality and goes to show how mentally unwell most stans are nowadays. :jonny: I would understand the lashings if DWAS was a hit she jumped on last minute a la Beyonce with Meghan, but it was always billed as a Gaga song so the drag just doesn't work.

Who made this specifically about the 2010s?

Thread title is implying that Gaga doesn't have a hit in the 2020s.

If we don't consider Stupid Love a hit, we can't consider Formation one either. IMO, both were hits. I'm just going by the OPs logic here.

ykw yes but no

run the world was a flop single but a hit outside charts, was quoted everywhere in every bey related note (and still is) and people still goes crazy when she performs at tour

now, stupid love… no one outside twitter vibes remembers that song and only is mentioned when we talk about flops but thats it:giraffe:

formation received grammy nominations and made some cultural impact idk about stupid love other than it was leaked

i think some LMs should search how many years Bruno haven't released an album before y'all dragged Bruno for not having solo hits for years:rip:

Well, statistics seem to  indicate that she won't

I hope so. DWAS is cute but it feels more like bruno's song. i would like to see her get a pop hit of her own that's not made for boomers

She has more solo hits across her career than most of your faves will ever achieve past, present or future. So... what now?

BTW ARUTW is basically a solo song with 1B+ streams and is only 6 yrs later, Bradley's feature is basically a courtesy credit to him lol

Gaga is in good company then :heart2:

She has three lines on the song, and yet you Monsters want to claim ownership as a Gaga lead song when it's clearly Bruno's lead.

Gaga including that little side collaboration on her album is giving Miley and Dua's Prisoner.

Ariana has a wide range of hits this decade and this past year(solo and collabs), and Gaga's last solo hit was Always Remember Us This Way(globally) in 2019; Million Reasons in 2016(US).

Idc about any of the biggest hits or whatever excuses, all I'm asking is if you think Gaga can get a solo hit in the 2020s. That's it. :heart2:

Gaga's music career is serving Sia's pre Chandelier then!

The real highlight:

Even though I didn't make this thread with the best intentions, I still think she can strike a balance between roots Gaga and the current musical climate for a solo hit. The Monsters are still there for the first week positions, but a song to comeback with like Disease was a step backwards

Only dumbasses come up with this narrative.

If Ariana is so powerful to push any song to #1, then why Dance to This by Troye and SIAK by Charli didn't smash? Why DWAS is snatching personal records for Bruno Mars, as it's reaching some milestones he wasn't able to do solo? Is Bradley Cooper a singer? :bibliahh:

It's a joint effort, which means that Gaga (who sings, co-writes and co-produces her songs) also holds some weight on the scale of its success... she's not a carried Khia. And honestly, these are her songs, no one irl cares for what is a "solo" hit or a "collab" as long they like it. It's just another dumb hater narrative to downplay her career as they've been doing for over a decade now.

Get over it!

gagas last [real] solo hit was million reasons.

beys last [real] solo hit was formation.

both released in 2016.

The ARUTW erasure lol it literally outsold and outstreamed lots of #1s including Bey's recent #1s by a huge margin.

Formation a hit? numbers can't support that claim. Her last last real global hit was Love On Top, it's bigger outside the charts just like ARUTW.

DWAS came on the other day and I asked my sister's friend (member of the GP) if she thought it was successful because of Bruno or Gaga and she looked at me with a strange look and said; 'both?'

I was like.. duh. Why are we even having this conversation. A HIT is a HIT. Who cares :rip:

Lady Gaga is still a household name, and with the right promo and sound she can still get solo hits. But at this point in her career, why does it really matter? She's a co-writer, co-producer, vocalist, and studio musician on the world's biggest song at the moment. 15 years into her career she still has the passion and drive to be an actual artist and she's getting her flowers for it. It's mad weird some of y'all push the narrative that she's some desperate has been clinging onto other artists. I can assure you she does not care as much about that stuff as y'all do. Hence why she released a random Christmas cover, a project of jazz standards, etc.
