yes, Bruno will make it a hit regardless.

but to make it the monster hit that it is, you have to have a certain vocal thickness + old school image for it to work.

so the likes of Lady Gaga, Xtina, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood...

No, it needed a vocalist to make it work, sure, it feels more like a Bruno song but Gaga gave it that extra edge it needed.

Half of you are obtuse to the music industry if you actually think Bruno's label and team did not plan these smashes back to back accordingly for him to come back (which is probably happening next year with an album release).

Ofc. Actually it would've been bigger if it was with other artists

And yet it just so happens that his collaboration with Lady Gaga is by far his biggest hit in many years :skull: Let's get you to bed grandma

It would have been as successful if Bruno Mars kept it as a solo song or asked somebody else to get on it. It's a cute song that totally sounds like his signature sound and the type of ballads that the general public loves.

Considering how APT. and Disease performed, I would say yes

Hmmm, it's hard to picture the song with a different female vocalist, there's a huge charm in Gaga's vocal for the song. I would love to hear a version with huge vocalists like Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato or Carrie Underwood though. They might give the song justice with a different flavor.

No. It would've sounded like any other romantic ballad. Gaga gives it personality. There's a reason why her dancing was what went viral first on tiktok

She don't even sing 1 minute in this song, she is a backup singer

We will have to wait for Bruno's first solo lead single and compare it to DISEASE's performance for a better and more accurate conclusion!! :giraffe:

LIDDOS have alot coming for them; they just don't know it yet!!

OP: You know how many SMASHES Bruno has gifted UNKNOWN ARTISTS? how many #1 smashes did he give the ANDERSON dude in SILK SONIC?

Anderson .Paak was not unknown whatsoever 💀I listenee to the dude back in like 2015 and his Oxnard and Ventura went #11 and #4 in the Billboard 200 before the Silk Sonic album came out.

Y'all keep saying "Bruno's Label" when the song was released under Interscope, which means that Gaga's label is probably doing the bulk of promotion.

The only part where lady Gaga doesn't sing is Bruno's verse and the first chorus. WHAT? She literally sings for 2/3s of the song.

Bruno's verse and the first chorus is actually half of the song, she have one solo verse and the rest is literally Back vocal

There's some artists that could have made it bigger than Gaga because it's a Bruno song first and foremost. I think Adele, Pink, Miley, Rihanna would have seen similar results.

A strong male lead which the GP are attracted to and connect with ?

And how did that go for 'the joker and the queen' :) face it

Not this next level cope because OGHs can't stand seeing Gaga smash and succeed. :deadbanana4:

I have to laugh!

This song wouldn't be anywhere near the smash success it is with another female. It's the combined chemistry and personality with Bruno and Gaga that makes it so special and why the GP is obsessed and connected so well with it.

Another female wouldn't have given it the soul it has which Gaga brings and the personality that comes along with it. And hence, wouldn't have connected how it ultimately did.

OGHs can stay ugly and all bothered about LG7 lead single yup yup!! :gaycat1:

Probably. Let's be honest it's a classic Bruno sounding ballad, they always smash hard. But Gaga suits it well tbh

It would still be a success with another good female vocalist (Adele, Bey, Ariana), yes, but Gaga's vocal is uniquely delivered and complements Bruno's so well which makes the song the masterpiece that it is. The ridiculous run Gaga does to enter the song, gritty belts with intensity, then going low and high with her beautiful falsetto while Bruno sings the main melody are all masterfully done in a perfectly Gaga way. The song is surely in Bruno's musical style, but people tend to like Gaga's vocals on ballads like this (Always Remember Us This Way, Shallow) and she does a great job of adding exactly what the song needs without doing too much and overshadowing her collaborator—it's an art many of her peers struggle with when collaborations feel forced or like add ons after the fact. Gaga and Bruno killed it and they should be celebrated for that, and they are

Pink or Beyonce would've been the only other choices. I can't at people saying Billie like she has the same voice as Gaga.
