Harrier Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Trump handing his presidency over to big tech oligarchs as opposed to MAGA fascists is a win on two fronts. First, it opens up a huge void for Democrats to reclaim the mantle of populism by actually staking out anti-estbalishment, anti-corporate ground. Not since 2008 will that ground be so fertile, and hopefully the mistakes Obama made can be learned from. But secondly, the big tech oligarchs are less imminently dangerous to trans people and other minorities than the MAGA right. It represents more of a continuation of the corporate dystopia as opposed to the feared descent into authoritarianism. 5 1
Communion Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago (edited) More food for thought for people dealing with some inkling to frame Musk as acting as some anti-racist counterforce to MAGA racism in all of this: And since irony is also always painful, let us remember that Harris was courting the very same Big Tech donors that Trump found in Musk and how so many reasons for why pro-corporate Democrats and Republicans act like they do can finally start making sense when understanding it's all about corruption: Edited 15 hours ago by Communion 2 1
Bethenny Frankel Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago so its an oligarchy not a dictatorship then if trump is already falling in line 1

This is what I was thinking, but at the same time I feel like Trump and his team are only going to double down on things like trans issues, etc to distract people from stuff like this. 1

This does give me hope that a trumpless America will not be easily controlled by Vance or Jr. Like so many are speculating. Give them another month and they would all forget about this and focus on the next outrage against like trans people or something. Trumpsters have the attention span as tragic as a tiktoker toddler. Besides which, I'd simply ask y'all to remember how captured they've been by crypto and venture capitalists like Sam Altman and Sam Bankman-Fried for the past few cycles. Also, big tech oligarchs are less dangerous to trans people? You... realize Elon Musk made his hard right turn over his child being trans, yeah? It led to him taking over Twitter specifically to turn it into a transphobic cess pit of "free speech" to let groypers get away with misgendering/deadnaming trans people and call black people the n-word. Elon, Vivek, and Peter Thiel don't give a flying f about trans people and would be just as eager to throw them under the bus as Democrats are if it'll at least keep the MAGAts satisfied when Trump signs those anti-trans bills into law. 1
Mellark Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago (edited) This is like Nicki vs Latto vs Cardi for right-wing tech bros and incels ... Elon Musk Petty at his service! Happy Holidays y'all Edited 9 hours ago by Mellark

Exactly my thoughts. They can't deliver on anything meaningful for their base (or anyone who isn't rich really), so they'll just do these kinda antics.. Edited 7 hours ago by Mariano
godmess Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I mean the future these people want has been in plain sight for years. Technocracy and transhumanism through any means necessary, whether left or right. It's an impulse in humanity that wants to push us to this reality because they can't conceive of progress being anything other than technological, digital enmeshment. Elon will rage his way to get as far as he can to manifest his delusions. We need more people breaking out of reductive Tribalism and into greater moral awareness. The tyranny that is possible and approaching must be pointed out and rejected.
