JBJT2786 Posted December 22 Posted December 22 The only argument about SZA is that she had to compete with the monster of an album like Midnights. But SOS arguably had more hits than Midnights. The fact the ablum has more streams than Midnights despite until recently having less tracks says alot. The TD argument might be valid especially if she gets hits from the LANA extension 1 1

OT: not the 38 tracks... girl just make it a new album atp 1
whiteferrari Posted December 22 Posted December 22 Here for it, we need SZA to keep dropping for decades

Two hits that were the biggest female hits of their respective years (Don't Start Now, and Levitating) Third-most streamed female album of all time? 7 1 1
superben Posted December 22 Posted December 22 There are 15 new tracks. It should be counted as a whole new album. Why does she make it a reissue anyway, instead of a new era? 2

RoseBud Posted December 22 Posted December 22 We went through this already, SOUR is there with eleven songs, no deluxe and no features. Until SOS catches up it will remain the highest streamed female album at almost 14 billion. SOUR total EAS: 19,378,000 Future Nostalgia total EAS: 17,725,000 Midnights total EAS: 17,418,000 https://chartmasters.org/top-album/?slk=sb SOUR is still the biggest based on total equivalent album sales. SOS is around 12 million, so it'll probably pass SOUR if the deluxe doesn't flop

Kill Bill was 2nd, only behind Flowers, which was one of the biggest hits of the decade. Then there's another smash, Snooze, that was #9 on the 2023 year end chart and then again #20 in the 2024 year end chart. Then there's Good days (top 10, 6X platinum), I hate u (top 10, 3X platinum). Shirt (#11, 2x Platinum) and some other tracks that also went top 40 and are platinum certified.

TD had several monster #1 hits, not just two big singles and some lesser hits carried by streaming. SOS is a behemoth of an album but its dominance doesn't quite fit the TD template. Music consumption has changed so much that we're unlikely to see anything like TD again 6 1
slw84 Posted Sunday at 07:13 PM Posted Sunday at 07:13 PM Happy for Sza. I won't recognize the derailed attempt to compare Sza to Teenage Dream to set her up to get dragged. I just hope they carefully plan out the singles for this era. She already has Kendrick's Luther that's holding up as a feature but she needs to figure out this rollout going forward. She can have another big year and this is a great start. 1
RoseBud Posted Sunday at 07:28 PM Posted Sunday at 07:28 PM How many Hot 100 weeks at number one for SNS singles though...
