The shifts to Trump in some large cities by Demographic - More Data Added

Screenshot-20241206-203116-Chrome.jpgFor people confused for example, a 10pt swing isn't literally 10% more Trump on the margin, but rather 5% more Trump and -5% less Democrat since 2020

The entirety of Miami collapsing equally:skull:

The Hispanic & Asian plummet in NYC & Chicago:skull:

That Wisconsin exit poll was so far off, that's barely a movement for Black voters:rip:

Detroit still being 90% Kamala despite nearly 23% of the population jumping off a cliff:rip:

Doesn't look like the ads worked in Nevada at all:rip:

It would be interesting to see a breakdown of Trump's raw vote totals because from what I understand, the number of votes Trump has netted across all three elections was very similar. That probably paints a more accurate picture of his support as opposed to democrat turnout was down so the numbers would shift right regardless

And all these losers get what they deserve.

and miss me with that "condescending" democrat attitude. No these people are literal LOSERS. Especially the minorities that voted for him.

Turnout can explain most of the small shift for places like Philly, Detroit & Atlanta for Black voters,  but not for the other cities like NYC & Chicago. Turnout didn't really drop in Milwaukee at all ironically(even though 2020 levels is still bad there), but it has the smallest shift here

Hispanic & Asian Voters have too large shifts on avg to just be that.

Interesting. I kind of figured white people would have been the biggest shift towards Trump. In all but 3 (and Miami seems to be pretty even for most of the shift) this is not the case.

Will this shift still hold in the midterms in 2026 after two years of Trump? I don't think so.

Asians have been largely ignored and sidelined by Democrats for decades. What is happening is the Asian demographic is growing rapidly, and Democrats continue to ignore them. Republics saw this weakness in much of NY, and courted them over years. Especially after the Asian hate crimes, and attacks against them like being pushed into trains.

Democrats are actually pretty bad in this aspect. They get so comfortable that Republicans have no issue coming in and targeting ignored groups.

Anyone that fell for the felon's lies a second time, deserves what they get. In 2016 you really didn't know what he would be like but EVERYONE knows the type of person he is now and they still voted for him. It's insane. This country is really going to go downhill thanks to him, and I will be moving out of the country ASAP.

Minorities are tired of being used as pawns. Identity politics has DESTROYED the dem party and people are finally waking up to it. Sanctuary cities are a mess and hurt legal citizens, crime and inflation are the worst in dem run cities, and minorities are tired of being told if they complain about it that they are racist, self hating, needing white approval, and whatever nonsense the dems spew to stay in power. The election was a wake up call and these flop dem leaders better get the message.

Lmao at the casual racism against Asians (and general liberal smugness) in here.

It is not a surprise that Asians swung hard for Trump this year. They are historically taken for granted by the Democrats and have been relegated to second class status (in the Dem establishments' eyes anyway) in favor of other minorities. Asians value hard work esp in education and crave for security so when you have affirmative action policies particularly affecting them and you have a wave of racist attacks hurled against them and the Democrats did nothing about it, its not surprising that they looked the other way. Folks will say why are they choosing the racist party but really, when the so called pro diversity party is neglecting you like fodder candy, why even bother voting for them? Thats the logic that goes on in their minds and I presume that Latinos also have the same thinking.

It must be noted that most of the Asian swings were from working class neighborhoods (not in the suburbs where they remained solidly blue afaik) so once again its another element of the working class votes going to Trump.

People here on ATRL could use some self awareness before acting all smug like self righteous pricks. We need to persuade not to lash out like some emotionally impaired wonk who missed out on his scheduled therapy. Our side need these votes and as long as this elitist snobbish mindset continue to prevail in Dem circles, well I wouldnt be surprised if these voters would end up like the white working class ones that have become solidly GOP.

Lmao a collapse in turnout to only 47% in the Detroit city limits not to mention this doesn't include the surrounding cities/suburbs. Seethe genocide apologist shitlib. Your genocidaire candidate FAILED :hippo:

Besides all it takes is a little tabling at the techno, house events (overwhelmingly filled with younger voters) to let folks know about the dangers of a genocidal dem party and you lose the votes. Y'all should've worked those phones harder or donated more $$ for more Eminem "concerts" :coffee:

good take

anyways as a latino I know I would be 3rd/4th class citizen wherever developed country I would move to. I guess they expect something they will never get back except they're able to maintain their lobby inside the government, which is not the case for the common immigrant.

your last sentence explains why liberal/left parties has lost a lot of power in the last decade from all minorities groups imo.

I do think this posturing is interesting because this election has shown that Hispanic and Asian are not meaningful categories due to the wild variance of class within them, even amongst ethnic lines and other sections of demographics. And that while there are plenty of criticisms about the way Democrats have failed working class Asian Americans (friendly reminder Bernie won Asian voters in 2020"s primary!) - much of the rhetoric about taking Asian-Americans for granted in the past has often had to do with issues largely impacting college-educated, usually suburban-dwelling Asian communities. For example, ending affirmative action was a pet issue amongst affluent Asian Americans.

Democratic losses with working class people of color are important, but it's interesting in what in this loss people will try to claim as the reason why for their own gain.

You have affluent conservative Hispanic figures claiming Hispanic voters hate queer people and pro-trans policies or affluent conservative Asian figures claiming Asian voters resent criminal justice reform policies, but unable to address the reality of how who these very groups of people supported in 2020 wanted a brash social + economic progressive.
