I don't mean to give TOO much credit to a legit murderer, but I feel he made the calculation in his head: "if ANYONE is gonna do something so brazen, it'll have to be me." Probably saw himself as a sort of vessel for this "mission," which would have some extra cushion if/when he got caught.

You're completely correct.

He's smart, white, str8, rich, handsome but in a cute/endearing way, and his social media leaves the impression that he has or has had centrist/right wing views (which most young men of today have). Not to get into a conspiracy spiral, but he fits the perfect criteria of someone that the general public would root for.
