He's so hot. I do feel sad for him because I know he will never get out now.

My king has horrible back pain and now is going to have to rest on a hard "bed" :rip: I wish we were allowed to send him something

I'm pretty confident most doctors do not set their own prices. Though, your larger point is correct. There's a lot of corporate rot to wade through, but the health insurance system is the biggest and most obvious problem.

I worked in medical office admin a few years back, and my small view into the industry is that doctors are pretty much beholden to whatever insurance approves. They charge amounts based on fee schedules established by the insurance companies (so they should know in advance what the final amount will be). The bigger problem is that deductibles are MASSIVE for each patient/family, so the insurance company gets away with paying the doctors nothing. The doctors, in turn, have to hire staff to collect these accounts receivable directly from their patients. The doctor that I worked for has actually cut out insurance completely and has a deal with his customers to do cash payments because it's easier.

And where did I say we shouldn't be putting healthcare insurance companies' feet to the fire? I literally stated it's not just them, as there's plenty of other corrupt actors in the system too that we need to be going after as well. And we shouldn't forget that by focusing exclusively on one part of a corrupt system when it's the entire system taken together that's lead us to where we are.

You deciding to put words in my mouth and acting like I'm somehow centrist and defending the decrepit, murderous insurance industry is so funny when I said no such thing.

All I said is to look at the corrupt providers and monied interests behind them too. Not at the expense of insurance gangsters, but in addition to.

The issue is you're repeating the talking points of centrists to demonize physicians. You don't need billers and coders to have healthcare, you need doctors.

Your framing misses out - as pointed above - that most physicians do not set their own prices and themselves have to limit often how many patients they see because things like running a physician's office incurs more administrative expenses when hiring staff to navigate patient insurance, medical coding, and networking for referrals.

This finger-wagging or warning of some grave oversight happening comes off silly to progressives because - again - Medicare For All already does what you're warning people of possibly missing. Are you in support of Medicare For All? There's no way to achieve what you're suggesting you want without single payer.

Universal healthcare advocates are going to focus on insurance providers more because it is insurance providers - not physicians - who do the most lobbying against M4A, while most institutions representing physicians and nurses, outside of one or two holdouts, have all ended up endorsing M4A from 2016 to 2020 despite being well aware that there will be degrees of less pay (mainly for rich specialists) under single payer for providers.

So today, people are celebrating someone who killed a homeless man (who couldn't afford mental health care) going free and grandstanding about the horror of someone going after a CEO ghoul that pioneered an AI to deny people's claims?

Ok.

As much as I feel bad he still murdered someone. Why are people looking past that. Is it just because he's hot?

I feel bad, this handsome young man has a bright future ahead of him, and he has thrown his life away like this. :!ohno:

His back pain destroyed his life… he made something of his life by targeting someone responsible for wronging him and his family and thus is a symbol of retribution against greedy bloodsuckers. He has not thrown away his life at all.

The act of murder doesn't happen in a vacuum. Sometimes it is justified, and a massive chunk of this country, myself included, seems to think so.

You are correct. Doctors do not set prices. Doctors bill insurance companies based on medicare guidelines. And what they bill is based on diagnosis codes. That's when insurance companies come and nitpick every single diagnosis and note a doctor has written for a patient just so they can deny coverage. Some of you don't realize how much time and effort behind the scenes doctors (and their staff) spend talking to these insurance companies trying to get things covered for a patient because they need it.

Having said that, doctors can be fraudulent by billing for things they didn't do or over billing for services.

Luigi came and served justice. He is a hero. The world should remember him because he could live his life comfortably but he chose not to.

And most importantly, we must continue his movement.
