Though as someone who knows a little bit about long-term care, she's reading the census info wrong. It's not that nursing homes have a standardized amount of beds they can have when she sees their census count vs the average census count. The one facility she's reading the reviews for could have 114 active census but like... a 200 authorized bed count and actually be pretty empty. As well, the theory of cross-payments or that the family made their money off of companies like United Healthcare seems off. Most money in LTC is from Medicare. Private insurers acting as supplemental insurers drag their feet to pay for even lab tests. 1
