Last Christmas overtakes AIWFCIY on Spotify Global chart. What happened?

Never heard LC but not shocked. AIWFC is at peak saturation/overexposure, there isn't much room for growth.

it will probably get less popular and then have a resurgence in a few years.

Maybe I'm just the grinch but how do people listen to Christmas music a full on month before it happens :rip: I play them a couple of days before max

That's why you gotta stream Fruitcake. It's fresh. :jonny5:

The only version of LC I listen to is Mileys! "Slaying ain't just for Santa"

I avoid x-mas songs like it's a disease.

It was Lights' rendition of the song for Apple Music that boosted it this year

The GP finally has taste :clap3:

Both good but I'm so tired of AIW

This might be a reach, but I wonder if Good Luck Babe's success brought it back into the discussion or made people look at it in a new light? Everyone was comparing the two songs when GLB first came out.

Why is she giving Britney for a Christmas song? :rip:

Because that's what Sharpay would've done! :cm:

I think All I Want For Xmas is just a little played out the last few years so people are over it

It's outstreaming 2023 by 30%

This is one day in ten years. Let's be serious.

I went this weekend to buy some stuff at a hypermarket and I think I heard 3 versions of Last Christmas being played there back to back. :rip:

There's nothing wrong with AIWFCIY taking a backseat or a few spots down every now and then, it has reigned supreme long enough and people will get tired of it but go back eventually.

Last Christmas is a classic in its own right and deserves success.

I'd understand if it was the best version of this song but it's not so let's work to change that!

I've been ready for George to finally overtake Mariah and Brenda. In a way it's more interesting and listenable (outside of Xmas season) than all the others, and as a mid-tempo synth ballad it stands out among all the other Christmas classics which borrow from the same bombastic '50s-60s sound.

The December charts will be a lot more exciting/less boring if it's actually a toss-up who will be #1 each week :duca:

I agree. The 80s had some pretty good Christmas songs. Yeah they're very synth pop, but they're such a fun twist.
