At this point, I'm not sure what to think. It's evident that the admin/mod team are working behind the scenes, but without full transparency it's hard to know what the issue is. If it's the money, I'm sure they could easily crowdfund - through ATRL+ or something else. I do hope they open up about the help because it's been happening for way too long :rip:

I got like twenty 500 errors before opening this thread. I might get more when I click on 'Submit Reply' :deadbanana4:

If I refresh my page twice and the site/thread still doesn't open up I take that as a sign that I'm not meant to look at it. The real problem here is you guys can't take a hint. The server doesn't want you. Y'all act like a bunch of Eve's: lusting over a forbidden fruit hoping that if you just keep refreshing you'll finally get a bite out of the apple and bypass the 500 Error. Be more like Adam and let it go.

It is so mind boggling. I don't buy the whole uncooperative owner excuse, and it doesn't help that the mods aren't being transparent with the updates. I mean, could they least do a daily update or something?

How does Gaga Daily which also uses Invision, the same forum hosting software operate just fine? Before you say anything shady, I just checked and there were 1100 members online there vs 800 online here at the moment, so I don't understand how atrl can't handle this volume of traffic if other sites can handle more just smoothly.

It's honestly getting so bad...

As a longtime user I've been incredibly patient with the server issues, but right now it's completely unbearable. This site has survived so many years, it would be a shame if it ultimately died because of something as avoidable as a slow server connection.

Owner pockets the money instead of investing in moving it and won't give up ownership / sell to people who care, it seems.

Is the site hidden from guests? Would that not help

It has it's good days and bad, much like J Lo's movie roles. It's much like the aging popstars that helped prop the site up in the first place. It was once a spry and quick site for it's time in the beginning but as the music icons age, so has the site. It might struggle to hit those notes every day but it continues to go out and perform for our entertainment.

There's some random middle aged straight man who owns this site and he's probably been emotionally checked out for over a decade. Every time he logs back in he sees another thread about Applause vs Roar, rolls his eyes and shuts his laptop

He sees ppl fighting about Brittney and Christina even though it's been decades, so he makes sure ignore Ryan's emails about the site not working… :giraffe:

ATRL Update on Server Maintenance & Site Improvements - 11/14/24

We know that recent server issues, especially the frustrating loading problems, have impacted your experience on the site. We’re sorry for the downtime and thank you for hanging in there with us. Work is ongoing to tackle these issues, and we wanted to keep you all updated on what’s being done to get ATRL running smoothly.

The owner has made significant backend changes, including updates to our PHP and other server software, which will help address stability and performance. We’re also in the process of reviewing each plugin on the forum as we gear up for our transition to Invision 5.0 in a few months. A lot of the plugins and applications we rely on have become outdated, similar to the issues we faced in the VBulletin days. Unfortunately, some of these plugins have been abandoned, and finding suitable replacements isn’t always straightforward.

In the interim, the thread tag plugin has been temporarily disabled.

We understand how frustrating this is—we feel it too. But please know that work is happening behind the scenes. We also can’t completely restrict guest access because we need real-time stress on the server to optimize our systems.

Thanks for your patience and continued support.

ATRL literally has a server problem for a decade now. They changed the provider, they introduced ads but still the servers keep crashing harder than Katy crashing on the charts. Why?

It is a problem with the software that is triggering the server issue. As has been stated in HQ in the post quoted at the beginning of this response, we are actively working with the owner to resolve the issue. It’s not a simple fix.

All ad income is reinvested back into ATRL for web hosting, maintenance and plugin development (which is seen costs nearly triple over the last two years).

We are frustrated too. The launch of our original content, interviews and sponsored contests has been delayed because of the instability.
