If it weren't for WCBF, the album would have nothing going on for it. Yes And was #1 because of her fan base and quickly died down the charts. The album had okay-ish debut numbers. People were just not invested during this era. Not you again Spotify Daily Streams: - Eternal Sunshine: 6.1M - WCBF (2.1M) = 4M / 12 (10 tracks + 1 intro + 1 interlude) = 333k streams per track - TTPD: 10.6M / 31 tracks = 340k streams per track 3 26
Feanor Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago It just wasn't a particularly noticeable era among all the other big eras that happened this year. 1
BrokenMachine Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I'm guessing her, her label, and her team didn't want to take the focus out of the Wicked project. They released the album to please the fans before the movie, but her main focus was always Wicked
Mrnoniee Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) You mean the album whose Lead single is OUTSTREAMED by literally album tracks of Billie & Taylor??? Yes and? was a COLLOSAL Flop Like Lady Gaga single level BOMB and no, hitting #1 doesn't make it a hit It had We Can Be Friends a Radio Fodder song did decently but like the song and the whole era was super generic No change in her image/sound, no risk at all You want Industry to give her flowers for her BASIC-RY? + she's past her prime and Billie stole everyone's shine this year (Ariana's era is not the only HMHAS has EATEN) Edited 5 hours ago by Mrnoniee 14
byzantium Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Because she has been overshadowed by herself as Glinda.

There was a point in which her album was completely forgotten because there was nothing going on. This time, unlike her previous eras, she's been competing against many new and exciting pop artists exploding and rising, so she's been completely overshadowed. She's been on Jimmy Fallon like five times this year and only once for Wicked. How is that not promoting. 1
ariesgroove Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago i love ariana so much and eternal sunshine is a top 3 album for me this year, i really do feel like arianators are being a bit dramatic about all this to say the least
Smarticle Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago The public saw her addressing her homewrecking allegations with yes, and?, then crying about her divorce in WCBF, then going back to TBIM, and something didn't add up
jjmed59 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) id be mad but for some reason her crossing over successfully into film acting just makes her way more legendary than any of these other things would. theres a reason the girls are always trying to launch their acting careers. you acquire a certain PRESTIGE when you do it right. and very few have accomplished it to this level (critical acclaim AND box office smashery) Edited 4 hours ago by jjmed59 1

skeeyee Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Oh well she focused on her EGOT, which is understandable as a Beyoncé fan my sympathy for her not promoting is limited. but this is among if not her best album.. so she should get SOME awards

You right, my apologies. The five times I thought it was on JF were TBIM performance (didn't realise this was the same night) and the Zane Lowe / Zach Sang interviews. 1 1
bielneira Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Because the media doesn't have taste apparently. She released one of the best pop albums this year.

At this point, I don't even bother to read their posts anymore, I just click dislike and go. Like what's the point ? 1 5
Reginald Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Wholeartedly agree, I am surprised to see Eternal Sunshine being pretty much overlooked. That album was great
ariananext Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I don't think the reason is promo itself, she did more appearances and performances for ES compared to Thank U, Next and Positions, if anything, it was all condensed into one week and then nothing, the era was kinda over by the end of march, hadn't it been for TBIM's video. I think things could've been handled better, and while I don't believe it was made just to make fans shut up (ES is the album she's been the most involved with creatively - she's the only songwriter apart from Max Martin and his producers, in that case she would've done the bare minimum) it was clearly going to be a short parenthesis as Wicked time was about to come, it's clearly not her focus right now. She'll probably pick up the era again in february or something. 2

It also was, importantly, a loophole for her to artistically discuss her personal drama and help right the conversation about her in the press! 1
Rabbit Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Imagine "flopping" with two number one singles and an album that has over 3.4 billion streams 3
sailor angel Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I lowkey think part of the issue is that she tapped into her introspective singer-songwriter bag at the wrong time. The zeitgeist in 2024 wanted fun, meaningless pop music back and Ariana - someone's who's known for serving fun, catchy bops - instead opted for a mid tempo, moodier album so the public chose the new girls (Chappell, Sabrina, Charli) who delivered on that front instead of Ariana. Releasing a slow introspective album works for someone like Taylor rn cause swifties put their money where their mouth is and buy albums no matter what, but arianators don't really do that. Also the only upbeat fun song was YA which just wasn't that good so the gp looked elsewhere. I think if this album came out two years ago or last year it would've smashed harder.
bad guy Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago The Spotify logos for Megan's flop and Olivia's deluxe (both producing zero hits) and that other random Don Toliver album is definitely weird, but that's probably a team thing because ES was bigger than those. Maybe her team ignored Spotify's emails idk 1
Kimi Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Because we had Brat, Midwest Princess, Cowboy Carter, Hit Me Had And Soft, Short & Sweet, The Tortured Poets Department. All more memorable. 1
Bussea Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago (edited) the album literally came and went. i don't understand why there's been so much discourse around it the last month because I don't think even Ariana herself cares about the album Edited 3 hours ago by Bussea 1
