Tovitov Posted November 23 Posted November 23 Twitter used to be great because there were so many communities you could interact with and share information with. Part of the fun was seeing posts from people you've never heard of talking about shows/music/movies you've never seen. None of it had to be political. Now Twitter rebranded X feels like an arm of the Republican party. You can't even block political content anymore, somehow it always ends up in your feed. I just joined Bluesky because I miss old Twitter and the world desperately needs an alternative. 5
If U Seek Amy Posted November 24 Posted November 24 I really hope this succeeds. Even if not Bluesky something. X/Twitter really has become insanely toxic and you really can't avoid it. No matter how much you mute/block the algorithm will find you new conspiracy/right content. Why is it so hard for social media platforms to just operate without pushing their bias? 1

Why is it so hard for social media platforms to just operate without pushing their bias? Toxic or not, it's still more representative of reality than the sheltered echo chambers that BlueSky is entirely representative of. The echo chamber effect itself being part of why liberals were so shocked by Trump winning when all the signs were there showing that Democrats were heading for a historically significant loss.

Anthinos Posted November 24 Posted November 24 The right also has echo chambers. I agree that we need to stay in the conversation (even if it doesn't work at the moment), because we live in a democracy. Nevertheless, it's okay if people on the left/progressive side have their own "echo chamber". I don't want to fight with trolls and right-wing extremists every day. Fights that are completely pointless. I really like it on BlueSky now. The site is much more harmonious and productive than X. 1
Kern Posted November 25 Posted November 25 (edited) Can someone explain to me how to use this kind of social app? I never liked Twitter and I made an account on Bluesky and it feels the same to me. Very cringe content, hundreds of likes under useless, unfunny jokes and random posts like "uhg". Maybe it's just not my thing, I just don't see the point of such app Edited November 25 by Kern

This I have made so many legit friends on Twitter from shared interests over the years...that would be impossible now the way the site is run and the way responses are not seen.
