poll ATRL speaks: LG7, More in the vein of DWAS or Disease?

As we know Gaga's upcoming album was originally envisioned as a dark, underground project packed with high-energy 'rah rah' bops. But with recent events (FAD, Harlequin) and Disease's concerning performance on the charts, should Gaga consider shifting direction and make LG7 full of HAC-friendly anthems that the general public is eager for? Would ATRL root for GaGa in this scenario?

Disease is ok if she adds heavy drums and guitar to the production. No one wants another Chromatica/143.

gaga wouldn't change her album just because her lead is underperforming. the best scenario is her promoting and milking the elgee7 era as possible then releasing an adult contemporary / pop rock album with dwas being on the album.

If I remember correctly the album is dropping in February, in just 3 months. Even if Disease bombed, you can't cancel everything and prepare something else in such a short period of time. She even already teased the second single in the Disease music video. I don't think the whole album will be dark/electro/high-energy anyway. Though I would not be surprised if she randomly adds DWAS to the album to boost its stats lol.

 

I am personally more interested in Disease type of songs from her than some boring AC ballads.

tbh the forced hate train for Gaga is really showing how outdated and weird stan culture has become, especially on here.

 

I've been a fan of Gaga for so f*cking long and it's really cool to see her finally just do what she wants without the expected merch and manipulative vinyl/cd drops to inflate numbers. She's moving into a much more creative and interesting space that no longer hinges on the approval of her audience - not sure why we would ever want to discourage that from an artist.

 

it's sad that there are people who can no longer appreciate music when it doesn't break records. You want numbers? Go stan Taylor - she's f*cking great at what she does and will make you feel that power by-proxy - no shade intended, just stating facts.

 

I and a lot of other fans are interested in Gaga the artist, her perspectives, her musicality and her ever-evolving experimental fusions of pop and art. Regardless of chart placements the critics and fans agree that Disease is a return to form and then some. When the output is that good who the f*ck cares about streaming numbers? She's literally better than ever and has served us SO much content in a few short months.

 

And besides... she has one of the biggest songs of the YEAR that is still sitting pretty at #2 on the Billboard Charts.

 

The bar is always moving for Gaga but no one else on this boring ass site lol

I don't think these sounds are mutually exclusive. Born This Way had Government Hooker and You & I, in whatever pretentious way she spelled it, and it's her best album. TFM also had Speechless

Lemme add a couple more points:

 

Gaga has swung between pure pop and live instrumentation her ENTIRE career. Started out in a piano bar with a live band, and every single album of hers so far has either dabbled in or committed fully to live instrumentation.

 

Brown Eyes. Again Again. Speechless. You and I. All from her first 3 albums, and yet if they dropped today these people would be complaining that she's trying to appeal to middle america. The whole point of Gaga from the beginning was experimenting and fusing her love of song construction and live performance WITH pop elements and flair. Lady + Gaga. Art + Pop.

 

If you're still not getting that, then maybe it's a YOU problem lol
